atribecalledcha
Alternatively you could just wipe your Data folder clean except for the vital files (such as Oblivion.esm and the BSAs). That would clear up the mass of modsare there any problems re-installing oblivion?i don't want to reinstall if i can avoid it, but i think i might have to as my game slows down quite a bit after playing for a few hours. just before i left for work it got unbearably slow. i tried exitting and starting it back up but it took forever to even load my save game. or should i look at using a mod that cleans out the cell buffer? i found one that you can set to clean it out after 5 load screens or every load screen specsCPU: pentium 4 (3.06 GHz) RAM: 768 mb (yes i know i need an extra 1gb) GPU: nvidia geforce 6600 (512 mb vram) i'm buying an extra 1gb stick, probably today. i just gotta figure out if what i have is dual channel capable first
Switch
Split this off as it was kind of thread hijacking (see the rules) in that other thread. ^^; So Oblivion is *still* slowed even after you shut it down and start it up again? If you shut Oblivion down any resources it was tieing up should be released. What about if you reboot your computer and try it again? Does this happen with any other games? atribecalledcha
its still slowed down even after i reboot. i turned it off and went to work. came home slept 8 hrs and got up. and the first loading screen is super slow. it took about 10-15 seconds and usually its 4-6 if that. re installinglet you know how it goes
atribecalledcha
re installed successfully. one interesting thing is that when you un install it doesnt delete your oblivion directories. obviously it does write over them. slow down still noticeable. but at least now its bearable
Abramul
Except for RAM (I have 1 gig) my computer isn't as powerful as yours (X900 is less powereful, correct?), and I don't hit slowdowns except when Firefox has a CPU leak, and I haven't seen that for a while. However, I have made a few alterations to my .ini, and I'm not using any large mods. What happens if you use Very Low graphics settings?
atribecalledcha
i actually bought an extra gig today and i was still having load problems. (i should have said so in my previous post) so i installed a mod that allows me to set how many load screens before it cleans out the memory cache and i'm STILL having loading problems. the only increase in loading i've noticed is one time coming out of the smith's in cheydinhaal, i didnt have any load time at all. (thats going from inside to outside) but going from out of the town gates (ie leaving town) i have more loading than i had previously. but like i said. its bearable. In my opinion something is wrong with your hardware, maybe you don't installed a driver or something else might be damaged ...
atribecalledcha
i actually have the most current drivers for everything. so its not that. i copied over my tweaked ini with the ini you get when you first install the game and its working a TINY bit better.
