TenShadows
Mods I install tend to have about as great chance of not working at all as they have of working as intended. For years I kept thinking the whole system was just messed-up and barely functional, but now I've begun to think that maybe the fault is in me. Is there something else to do besides putting them in data files and activating them in Wrye Mash? I mean, I guess there's mod order, but that can't possibly be the entire problem, and I never figured out how to do it anyway.
Dragon32
Not too sure what your problems are, you'd need to be a little more specific. Maybe these will help: Beginners Guide Starting Out With Mods (old but still relevant, just not the bit about installing in Program Files. Don't do that.) TenShadows
According to the Beginners Guide, I have not missed a step at all. I'll try and be a little more specific. Keep in mind that this is a partial list because it's been like two years and I can't possibly remember them all. Gold Has Weight doesn't work. Feather Rebalance doesn't work - well, it makes the default Feather spell last longer, as advertised, but it also greatly increases the cost when not supposed to, defeating the whole point. Improved Skilled Magicka, or any other mod that makes more powerful spells improve their skill faster, doesn't work (granted, on this one I know why). There was a mod I once tried that made skills level up mostly on failure - that not only didn't work, it nullified normal skill advancement. Basically anything to make the Sixth House a bit tougher, in particular have Dagoth Ur grow weaker whenever an Ash Vampire is killed, never worked. There was a mod that made all attacks hit, didn't work. Most recently, The Tribe Unmourned added some ash ghoul voices and randomly expelled me from the Sixth House (even though I've never joined it) sometimes when I attack them. Plus a bunch others I've forgotten but know are there. But yeah, it's probably got something to do with the Program Files path. That's my default Steam installation path and, while I'm aware it can cause issues, I've never figured out how to change it. Dragon32
Could be a mod conflict (only changes made by the last loaded mod will take effect), could be using versions of plugins designed to be used with other mods you don't / didn't have, could be using TESTool's Merged Dialogues plugin... When you've got a mod list together run mlox against it. It'll sort out load order and also highlight potential conflicts between mods you're running. When you've sorted out the messages from mlox then post your mod list here and I'll take a look. Installing Morrowind into Program Files / Program Files(x86) can lead to problems with both UAC and folder virtualisation. The latter can squirrel your edited morrowind.ini away so it doesn't take effect. You can move your whole Steam games library. I'd say a subfolder of C:\Games or another drive entirely. I did it myself a few weeks ago (although I didn't have many Steam games installed), pretty painless.
