I'm running the game on medium settings even though I think my pc could handle a little more. The only time I really have frame rate issues is when my character gets hit. The game will run very slow and choppy for about 5 seconds unless I get hit again which it'll run slow longer. It's really annoying because after this happens, it's hard to control my character or tell what's going on and a lot of times it results in me getting killed. So can someone help me out please? Hickory Posted March 28, 2011 Share Posted March 28, 2011 My first guess, from your description, is that you may have hit the Animation Bug in you saved game. Bonesz Posted March 28, 2011 Author Share Posted March 28, 2011 Really? Ugh, I've never been able to get Wrye Bash to work for Oblivion... Works just fine for Fallout 3 and Fallout NV, but when I try it on Oblivion, I get the UAC asking me if I'm sure I want to allow it to run, then nothing happens after that. But every now and then seems to be not a lot of time, lol. It seems like the problems starts up again after about 10 minutes or so after I run that program. And also, it corrupted my save file once, but it's a good thing I made a back-up, lol. Edit: Ok, I was wrong. It actually doesn't seem to be working at all. The game runs fine for about 10 minutes or so after closing oblivion and starting up again even if I don't use the animation fixer. Striker879 Posted March 28, 2011 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I've not run into any problems using OAF myself. It doesn't do anything to fix corrupted saves though. As far as OAF causing save corruption I wonder if that may be related to the issue I see reported of quick save and auto save caused corruption. I've also seen overwriting a save being implicated in corruption (not sure about the validity of that claim). When I'm going to use OAF to clear the A-Bomb I always start from a clean save (a new save from the menu and not overwriting an older save). I run OAF on that save and then after I've loaded the OAF fixed save I create another new save. I keep a large supply of backups myself, and try to remember to make a save before starting anything of importance. Hard drive space is cheap nowadays. Hickory Posted March 28, 2011 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Ok, I've just had another look at your mod list, and you are, it seems, enabling redundant plugins. For example, you have OOO installed and all of the optional plugins. If you went for the full OOO experience, none of those optionals are necessary. Same with MMM, you have, for example Mart's Monster Mod - More Wilderness Life.esp and Mart's Monster Mod - More Wilderness Life No Gates.esp when you should be using one or the other. You have Natural Weather, which is outdated. Go for All Natural. Check over all of your installations for similar discrepancies. You must also be aware of any animation replacers you have may impact your FPS when interacting with other actors. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MarkInMKUK Posted March 30, 2011 Share Posted March 30, 2011 If you are getting the UAC asking you whether you want to change stuff every time with Wrye Bash, it probably means you installed into the default directory. The recommendation is to move your Oblivion install to c:\Games\Oblivion, taking it out from UAC control - this fixes no end of apparent bugs where the UAC refuses to let files update correctly. Bben46 has written a guide to how to (relatively painlessly) move your installation while keeping all mods and save games happy. If you are using a Steam version, there's a similar problem with the default install and a similar movement workaround, but I'm not sure whether it's spelled out step by step as it is for the disk installation.
