M48A5
The image you provided is from another mod not FWE. I have been using FWE for a few years and I have never encountered a "Weapons Workbench" and there is not mention of one in the FWE Wiki.
ianpwilliams
That image I posted was actually just taken off the internet, to represent what I was expecting to see, as that is the default workbench in vanilla Fallout 3. But when I click on the workbench I get this menu: So it looks like one of my mods has completely overhauled the workbench. I'll carry on anyway, and maybe I just won't use workbenches, as it was always a pain saving up components and often not having room to carry them etc.

It's been so long since I saw a vanilla workbench menu, I forgot what it looked like. As for the components, you can always store what until you are able to craft the device you want. ianpwilliams
OK. I am having some problems with game crashes though, which I suppose is inevitable when running mods. I suppose there's no way of knowing which mod caused the issue? The crashes seem to be random. Edited September 27, 2015 by ianpwilliams
M48A5
Did you make the changes to enable FO3 to use more RAM? How long can you play before the game crashes? Since you say the crashes are random, is there activity that is common before the game crashes?
ianpwilliams
I'm sure I did, but I suppose I could always do it again to make sure? It kind of varies. Sometimes it might be after 10 minutes, sometimes it might be 30. I'd say about every 15 minutes on average. I'm using CASM to save regularly, and I'm saving regularly too (all autosaves are off), but it's a pain having to reload so often. Sometimes it'll just freeze, and other times it'll quit to the desktop. The activity doesn't seem to have a pattern to it. It's happened when exploring, when opening a door, going into the pip boy, all kinds of things really. I'd say that it's still just about worth playing despite the hassle of reloading, but it is close to the line. Who knows, maybe it'll improve in time. ianpwilliams
My latest save was crashing very soon after loading it, so I deleted it and went back a save, and then I started playing it on the PC monitor (at a lwer, 4:3 resolution) instead of the HDTV and it seemed a bit more stable. So then I went back to the HDTV, but at 720p widescreen instead of 1080p, and so far it's been OK. There shouldn't really be an issue with playing at the highest resolution as the PC and video card are both high end, but I wonder if that was causing the issue. ianpwilliams
I'm still getting the occasional crash but it doesn't happen as often on the 1280 resolution. I've also adjusted the other two graphical settings in FOMM to "best performance". So I wonder if changing any of the other graphics settings might also help? Also, I initially went with the FWE alternative travel mod, but now I'd rather not as it seems a bit inconvient rather that immersive. But I wonder, if I disable the alternative travel mod in FOMM, will that be on in-game?
M48A5
You will still see the motorcycles all over the wasteland, you just won't be able to interact with them. However, it is always best to disable and uninstall any .esp you are not using. Your aspect ratio and resolution should both be set to your monitor for best performance. Have you tried the New Vegas Anti-crash? It does work for FO3: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/? ianpwilliams
Are there quite a few motorcycles around then? I haven't really noticed them, apart from the one at Megaton. I'm currently at Paradise Falls and my only option seems to be to pay 100 caps to an NPC to travel to Big Town and then walk from there, which is a pain. Unless there's a bike somewhere that I missed. And of course they have to be maintained. I play the game on my 50" HDTV, so the maximum 1920 x 1080 resolution would be best suited to that, but the game seems to crash a lot more at that resolution than at the 720 resolution. But who knows, maybe that no-crash thing might allow the higher resolution.
