ianpwilliams
Having said that, even the BOSS webpage suggests using LOOT instead for Fallout 3, so shall I try that instead?
ianpwilliams
Ok I'm trying LOOT instead. It's found Fallout, and it's listing all the DLCs and the unofficial patch, but none of the mods. Is it supposed to list the mods? I have noticed that with NMM, it lists the Fallout mod directory as "D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Fallout3\Mods", but Fallout is actually in "D:\Program Files\Fallout 3 GOTY", and all the guides I've read say that the mods should be in the Data folder of the Fallout directory. EDIT: Didn't realise you had to double-click each mod in NMM to install it. Working my way through the list now... Edited September 9, 2015 by ianpwilliams
ianpwilliams
I'm now at the stage where all my mods are installed, and when I run LOOT in sums up all the mods and plugins with no errors (I had a few errors to begin with, which I managed to get rid of). I now have a list which has various warnings etc, and some mods have a link to "Fix with FO3 Edit", although the guide says to run FO3 Edit, so I'll try that instead. A couple of concerns which I have at the moment are, that I installed each mod on the mod list in NMM in order from top to bottom, but I realise now that I should probably have done that in a particular order. Is it too late to uninstall them all via NMM, and then install them all again in a particular order? Also, I didn't do the thing of playing Fallout up to the point of exiting the vault and then saving inside, outside before mods etc. Should I do that too if I'm going to uninstall the mods? ianpwilliams
I've had a look online and found a few people's mod load order lists which include most of my chosen mods, so I'm thinking I better try following one of those lists. However, if I uninstall all my current mods (within NMM), will my Fallout data folder effectively be returned to its original state? Or would I be better off uninstalling Fallout and all DLC and starting again from scratch (something I would rather not do if possible, having patched it, edited the .ini etc following the guide)? Ethreon
Safest would be to uninstall and clean everything after, then reinstall game+DLs, then mods.
ianpwilliams
When you say clean everything after the uninstall, do you mean delete the Fallout folder and the Fallout folder in the documents should there be files left (which I'm sure there will be)? Also I'm guessing that I can leave the utilities as they are, especially NMM with all of the mods downloaded (but deactivated), as the archives are in the NMM folder so shouldn't cause issues. ianpwilliams
OK uninstalling everything. I found a mod install order online, which is this: Fallout3.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esmPointLookout.esmZeta.esmCALIBR.esmxCALIBR.esm20th Century Weapons.esmDCInteriors_ComboEdition.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esmMart's Mutant Mod.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.espzeta tweaks.esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Vendor).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Containers).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (NPC_Settler).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Vault 101).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (RivetCity).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Raider).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Slaver).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Chinese Ghoul).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (SuperMutant).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Talon_Regulator).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (Brotherhood_Outcast).esp20th Century v5 ALIVE (TEST Container).espDoor2destroyedCitadelv2.espBlackWolf Backpack.espAutoAim_6000_v1.0.espHuman Catapult.espSniperZooming.espARTNightVision-No AP drain.espTailor Maid.espTailor Maid Anchorage.espGreenWorld.espTailor Maid ZETA.espStarFox.espFeng Shui.espPureWater-VeryClearNoRad-.espFellout-Full.espFellout-Anchorage.espFellout-BrokenSteel.espFellout-PointLookout.espPersonalTerminal.espDarNifiedUIF3.espFPS Grenade Hotkey.espnpc-tracker.espKHWeaponscanner.espThe Groovatron.espThe Groovatron_DLC_Pitt_Addon.espThe Groovatron_DLC_PL_Addon.espF3UmpaAnimation.espvendor tweaks.espSprint Mod.espAQFH_C_103.esp20th Century V5 tweaks.esp2nd Home at Tenpennys [Engl].espThe Mantis Imperative - Mantis.espThe Mantis Imperative - Jello.espMart's Mutant Mod.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.espMart's Mutant Mod - No Floaters.espMart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.espMart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.espMart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.espMart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp So that would mean that my mods would be installed in this order: Fallout3.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esmPointLookout.esmZeta.esmCALIBR.esmxCALIBR.esmDCInteriors_ComboEdition.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esmMart's Mutant Mod.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.espFellout-Full.espFellout-Anchorage.espFellout-BrokenSteel.espFellout-PointLookout.espMart's Mutant Mod.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.espMart's Mutant Mod - No Floaters.espMart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.espMart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.espMart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.espMart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp However, this would still leave the following mods: CONELRAD 640-1240Ambient Wasteland 2Alton ILA World of PainArefu Expanded v1_7d by AzarReykjavikMothership Zeta CrewTies that BindFallout Wanderer's EditionFlora OverhaulFallout Street Lights (great with Fellout)NMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3F3ProjectRealityMkIAdjustable HUD - aHUDImmersive HUD - iHUDEnhanced Night SkyCASM How would I go about deciding where in the order the rest of the mods should be? Does LOOT arrange the mods and plugins in any particular order? Because from Fallout 3.esm to Zeta.esm the order is the same. After that thought it changes, going with Unofficial Fallout Patch, A World of Pain, Craft, Caliber etc. But seeing as the mods aren't in alphabetical order or anything, maybe this would be a good order to install them? I've also noticed that where certain mods have multiple elements to them in the online list (e.g. MMM for all the DLCs), not all of them seem to be listed in LOOT. MMM for example just has the main one (twice in fact, in separate places), DLC Broken Steel and DLC Zeta. But there's no Anchorage, Pitt etc.
Ethreon
FWE nexus page - if you read that, they describe sets of rules to go with when arranging plugins in your load order.
ianpwilliams
Oh yes I remember you mentioned that. There is a "FWE Master Release - Recommended Load Order" on that page. That list seems to be about what order to load the mods when running FO3 Edit. So should I also install the mods in that order in NMM?
