ianpwilliams
So you never clean any mods in FO3 Edit? So you never really actually use FO3 Edit? In this video the guy cleans all of the mods (including the DLCs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gfv94WCKxA He cleans each mod using “Apply Filter for Cleaning”, “Remove Identical to Master Records” (and the ITMs seem to match teh LOOT report), “Undelete and Disable References” (and the UDRs usually match too). So do you think that maybe the above isn't necessary? EDIT: There is a comment for that YouTube video where the guy said that he never cleaned them either, and when he tried this everything was all screwed up, which makes me cautious. EDIT 2: If I'm not going to be cleaning any mods, then I could always use BOSS instead of LOOT, and just use it to sort the load order and forget about warnings etc. Edited September 20, 2015 by ianpwilliams
ianpwilliams
I've now got Fallout Wanderer's Edition installed and it's there in the Pip Boy which is great news! I was just looking through the FWE options, and for the levelling up options it suggests that you start a new game if you don't go with the vanilla options. Do you think that's necessary? I've already got my pre-birthday part and pre and post vault door saves, so I don't really want to have to go through all that again. Also, what settings do people generally go for with FWE? Do you normally go with the FWE defaults, which by the looks of it are quite a bit harsher? I don't mind most of the stuff being a bit harsher, but I'm a bit of a hoarder, and it seems like FWE really punishes you when it comes to carrying capacity. I started a game that way without a problem. In my current 300+ hour game, I have been using the vanilla settings.
ianpwilliams
Yeah I think so. I've got aHud and iHud installed now too, both working, and both great. This is coming together nicely so far! I can't tell if the NMC textures have come into effect or not, but I'm assuming they must have done because everything else has. It's hard to judge because I only ever played F3 on Xbox 360 before.
ianpwilliams
I'm going with Tougher Traders for MMM, but would you recommend Natural Selection, where stronger creatures pray upon the weak? I like the sound of it personally, but my only concern is that it might leave the wasteland a bit emptier (by MMM standards), if all the creatures are killing each other. ianpwilliams
It's also just occurred to me that you are apparently supposed to start a new game for Ties That Bind because Amanda is there from the beginning. Otherwise it says to go to Paradise Falls to find her, but that seems a fair way away. So it seems to be a choice of going to Paradise Falls to find Amanda, or going through all the Vault 101 stuff again.

MMM-Master Menu Module is a part of the Blackened Patch for MMM.
ianpwilliams
OK, I've got everything installed, one mod at a time, loading up the game each time and moving around a bit etc, and everything seems fine. I've attached a screengrab of the mods in FOMM, in their load order decided by BOSS. Does that look like a good order to you? Also, do I now need to create a merged patch using FO3 Edit? That is what they do in one of the videos once they've added all of the mods. Also, for MMM I changed "Increased Spawns" to 1-3, and turned Skeleton Decay off, and I'm considering activating DPS, although the game may be hard enough on default FWE settings. Do those MMM settings sound ok to you? Also, there are 6 unrecognized mods in BOSS: Mart's Mutant Mod - DC Interiors.esp ActiveAltonAddon.esp ActiveFlora Overhaul.esp ActiveHZSmoothLight - FO3.esp Version 1.0 ActiveTiesThatBind.esp ActiveBlackened FWE + MMM.esp Version 3.3 Active So I guess I would need to arrange those in the load order myself? Finally, I am using a Xbox 360 controller, and I would like to assign the "Sprint" and "Bullet Time" actions to two buttons which I don't think I need (i.e. "Change View" and "Grab"), but FWE doesn't let me assign those buttons (the game recognizes and supports the controller), only keyboard or mouse buttons by the looks of it. I'm wondering if there might be a workaround that I can use? Edited September 20, 2015 by ianpwilliams
M48A5
Can't help with the controller, I use mouse and keyboard. You are either not using the correct version of Mart's Mutant Mod or you do not understand how to use the Paradox Ignition version. If you have installed the Paradox Ignition merged Mart's Mutant Mod, disable and remove all the .esp for MMM except for the DC Interiors patch. Also, before you get too far into the game, open the "Tools" menu and toggle off then on, Archive Invalidation. The unrecognized plugins look fine where they are, however, you should read the mod description pages to make sure. It would not hurt to make a merged patch with FO3Edit, as long as you know what you are doing. Read the training manual before attempting to use FO3Edit. It would be a good idea to have the manual open in a second window for quick reference. Do not include the Blackened patch in the merged patch and load Blackened after the merged patch. ianpwilliams
I thought I did MMM correctly. I installed MMM, then the update patch, then deleted the esp and esm, and then put the Paradox Ignition versions in their places. Is that wrong? I toggled AI as I went along actually. I made a list of the texture mods and then I thought what the hell, and just turned it off and on after every mod as it became part of the routine. So hopefully that's all ok. I'll double-check the mod descriptions for the unrecognized plugins, although I followed any specific instructions. And I've created a merged patch using FO3 Edit, following a YouTube video, so I'm hoping that'll be ok too.
