toxicToxophilite
Okay, so my game was running over 11k active scripts, and after having to restart playthroughs half a dozen times, i resigned to just doing a clean install. Well first I uninstallled the game via steam and then reinstalled it, but nothing changed. Next, I followed this guide to make it all vanilla again. Not only did this not work, but then my game crashed after the bethesda logo. Well in frustration, I deleted every bit of skyrim data, then uninstalled and reinstalled again. Lo and behold, it started! For soem reason i still had my previous autosaves and teh last three or four game saves, but i manually deleted those on my new dark elf named paul. I did the testing thing and then spamming random spells i finally crashed after polymorphing into a skeever, which i would like to know where that spell actually comes from, but my camera was stuck under the ground ont he skeever's belly. Before i began uninstalling skyrim just this last time, my camera was also stuck on the ground underneath horses when i rode them, but only in the very lsat session (no idea why) though i'm not sure if there's a connection? Anyway, confidentt hat it's working and that it was just unstable from me usinga ll those shoutsa nd spells, i went to download alternate start so that i could playp roperly. WELL. I realized all ofm y mods were still activated in nexus mod manager even though i deleteda ll of the data for them, soi had to deactivate and uninstall all 210+ mods (way more if you dont count the merged plugins). Well after that, now skyrim crashes after the bethesda logo. i did the cache thing and it said i was missing one file and i tried playign again afterwards with the same results so i'm kind of stumped now. Aintiarna
I was really hoping someone else might get around to helping you because frankly this is the sort of thing where helping someone online could lead to messing up their computer horribly. So please assume a disclaimer on everything I'm about to say but since your Skyrim is unplayable I'm assuming you're willing to try anything. Here's what I would do. Use at your own risk. Follow the instructions slowly and _very_ carefully. 1. Open up NMM2. Select Uninstall All Active Mods from the menu3. Open Configuration and look for "Install info" and make a note of the full path name. Also note down "Mod Directory".4. Uninstall NMM via windows and select to do a full uninstall if offered.5. Find and delete the "install info" file you wrote down earlier if it still exists. Delete everything in the "Mod Directory" that you wrote down.6. Select everything in c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\ and press shift+delete (that's right, nuke it all except the folder named Skyrim). When it has finished, double check that the folder is empty before proceeding.7. Go to your user folder which will be c:\users\(your windows login name)\Documents\My Games\ and delete the folder called Skyrim. That will delete any old saves and all the configuration files.8. Verify the game through Steam. It will re-download everything which depending on your bandwidth may take a long time. 9. Check the game runs vanilla. Then follow a good modding guide the most important part of which is make a full backup copy of the game before you start modding. I really hope that helps. ironbender800
Also install steam outside of the program files folder. But yes as said above delete everything, all saves, all mods, then delete both game folders, and then reinstall. you wont mess up your computer i have done clean installs MANY times lol. In your future modding to avoid this problem follow the many guides out there on modding skyrim properly. Avoid running a million scripts and super heavy textures. I personally dont see the need for 200 plus mods. My mod list at the moment is 74 in MO left pane with 94 plugins. and it covers every major category for a dramtically improved skyrim visually and gameplay wise. Also DONT use NMM. Mod Organizer is faaar superior and NOT hard to learn or use AT ALL. Like most i was hesitant to switch but now that i did i will never go back. MO is better in every way. Thats why you see most of the "experts" using it and not nmm. Edited September 7, 2015 by ironbender800
toxicToxophilite
I'm willing to use Skype and screen share so that you can see my screen and talk directly to me (you don't have to use the mic we can type with the mics muted). toxicToxophilite
so i should uninstall and reinstall steam?
vram1974
If you were running 11,000 active scripts you can just delete them all and continue with your playthrough. No need to reinstall Skyrim since whatever you did to create the script problem will only occur again unless you know what it causing it. Open your save file with Save Game Script Cleaner, find active scripts, delete them all. Continue with game. Odds of CTD are extremely rare. Most of these active scripts are glitched loop scripts or critter spawn.
