  1. The game hasn't changed since 2015 so only the really ancient mods made for patch 6 and earlier are likely to give you any problems, and even a few of them still work just fine. If in doubt, always read the comments section. As for which mod manager to use...well, it depends. A lot of modders have provided versions of their mods for the newer modding tool Frosty. And many provide both. The older Mod Manager still has a larger range of native mods available for it and it supports configurable mods which Frosty does not (and unlikely it will anytime soon). On the other hand, Frosty is better at handling some texture editing and some other issues such as body swapping. There are a lot of mods that work just fine and will probably never get ported to Frosty because the modding scene is a lot quieter these days. So your best bet is to look on the Nexus at the type of mods you are interested in using and then decide which modding tool you want to use. It is possible, though unsupported and a little complicated, to use both methods. Basically, install your older .daimod files 1st (that's the extension for the Mod Manager mods) and then launch the game with Frosty and your Frosty mods. It's more error prone. For more info, join the DAI modding Discord. https://discord.gg/wzJG7Mq
  2. The GOTY edition doesn't contain the multiplayer DLC though, you still have to download that but it's automatic as soon as you sync with origin. I don't really know much about Frosty as I don't use it, but there are lots of people who do on the DAI modding Discord. Try there. https://discord.gg/wzJG7Mq'>https://discord.gg/wzJG7Mq
  3. Getting a cache from someone else wouldn't work unless they have the exact same DLCs, item packs, etc. as you. Even then, it doesn't fix whatever is causing the problem. Mod Maker is not that complicated. It just parses everything in the Data and Update subfolders and builds a cache. You mentioned in your 1st post not being able to find Isabela. Well, Isabela, Zither and Amund were added later as part of the Update/Multiplayer_DLC2 content. (The Dragonslayer DLC) So if that is not in your DAI folder and getting parsed, then it will not be in the cache. e.g. [02/04/2019 11:10] Parsing \Update\Multiplayer_DLC2\Data\Win32\loc\de_group_09.toc [02/04/2019 11:10] Parsing \Update\Multiplayer_DLC2\Data\Win32\loc\en_group_09.toc If you sync with Origin then it auto download this DLC. It's not something you need to buy. I rebuilt my cache because it was super old and I got a total of 230k assets, but then I have lots of item packs and all the DLC. Avvar armour, qunari armour , etc. Mod Maker's cache building is so simple I can't think of anything that could break it apart from something being wrong with your data folders or something being missing. Sorry.
  4. Well, if you've followed the instructions for resetting the cache, then something must be missing from your game files. Have you tried repairing your game through Origin? With so many missing assets I can think of no other solution.
  5. do you get an output like this when you fire it up? [30/03/2019 17:33] Cache found. Reading cache... [30/03/2019 17:33] Loading of cache and assets completed. [30/03/2019 17:33] Loaded a total of 217174 assets. I know you said you reinstalled the game, but is patched up to date (patch 11 (version number 12)?)
  6. If you mean the Great Blackmail Hunt, probably in DA3//DesignContent//Prefabs//Levels//CritPlots//Halamshiral Not sure offhand how you would go about changing it though. Might take a bit of experimenting. You can get more help on the DAI Modding Discord server : https://discord.gg/wzJG7Mq
  7. Have a look at this: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/daitools/modmanager-troubleshooting-master-post-t1092.html If I remember correctly, that particular problem is caused by putting mods in the Mod Manager folder instead of a separate folder or in the DAI installation folder. Can't remember which. Just make sure you have a separate folder for your mods that you want to merge for a particular playthrough and nothing else in that folder. The folder should not be in a subfolder of Mod Manager either.
  8. There are instructions here :http://daimodder.tumblr.com/post/123864968464/dai-mod-manager-tutorial And also a troubleshooting guide. If you have 2 Official Patches in the list, you already have a problem. Because you are getting an error at More Influence Table the mods after that are not merging at all and so will appear to not be working. You need to go to your patch folder and remove everything except the official patch (under Origin Games > Dragon Age Inquisition > Update - remove any Patch_ModManagerMerge folder) and start again with a smaller selection of mods. A lot of the older mods were made with older patch versions and never updated. Some still work and some don't. Best to read the comments section 1st. I believe More Influence has not worked since patch 9 or so. If you are still having problems, you can get help on the DAI modding discord server which is still pretty active. https://discord.gg/wzJG7Mq
  9. I wrote a tutorial years ago which you can find here: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/978?tab=files It may be easier with Frosty these days but I don't see any comparable mods on the nexus so maybe not.
  10. Well, it's not like Skyrim in that there's no tinkering: they either work or fail horribly. I'd suggest you read this first: http://daimodder.tumblr.com/post/123864968464/dai-mod-manager-tutorial In fact, DAI Modder central is a great resource in general. You'll also want the DAI tools suite loader to get Mod Manager: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/693/? Lots of mods got broken by Bioware's patches and never got fixed so ALWAYS read the comments section before you download a mod. Don't install 50 mods and hope for the best. Take it slow. There aren't really bug fix mods as such. The DAI community patch hasn't been maintained for a long time. There's a compendium of companion mods here, but again read the comments section first: http://daitools.freeforums.org/post10622.html#p10622 Aside from that, you're best bet is to look at the most recommended in the last two weeks list on Nexus. It generally filters out the ones that aren't working any more. Here's a list of some of my favourites that I can attest to being in full working order with the latest patch: http://tirnoney.tumblr.com/modsinuse
  11. The game engine isn't all that complicated in how it chooses what to load. It tends to load on demand so if you're getting a reliable crash when you approach the doors to Haven, it's something the engine is loading in the cell you're entering that's likely to be causing it. Is Cassandra or Cullen standing out there? It could be one of their cosmetic mods. Or something to do with the NPCs/soldiers out there. Do you remember what mods you installed when it last was working? You may have to just untick a lot of mods, merge and then install them back in slowly until it breaks again.
  12. Dorian in Black is known to cause issues like that for some people. Try without that one. Can't see anything else in your mod list that could be doing anything like that.
  13. I cannot make any sense out of that... sentence. The sentence is a challenge to parse, but I think I know the issue being referred to. If you ask for Cassandra's opinion on who should drink from the Well of Sorrows, she says to let Morrigan drink. If you follow her advice, you gain disapproval for doing so. There are a couple of other instances where what Cassandra says is not consistent with the approval you gain or lose. I don't know what would be involved in fixing it and I'm not really bothered enough by it to spend hours trawling through Mod Maker to find out.
  14. I'm changing the wording of this because I think it was completely confusing. The best thing is for you to go and read the tutorials over here: http://daitools.freeforums.org/3d-modeling-tutorials-f30.html The bottom line is that you can't do what you're trying to do with Mod Maker. You have to use a 3d modelling program to port hair meshes and them re-import them to the other races asset. It's not an easy task which is why modders don't release styles for every race and gender.
  15. Just to clarify to both of you. .NET 4.5 is not required. A version of .NET older than 4.6 is required. Is that clearer? It's just that getting anything older than 4.5 on windows 10 is rather difficult now.
  16. Oh, one other thing. Is your dragon age .exe in a standard place or somewhere weird, because that can cause problems sometime. The error being thrown can sometimes relate to I/O problems, but I didn't think of it since you say it was all working before. But seriously, getting .NET 4.5.x on your system is your best bet for fixing this however you achieve that goal! ;)
  17. Well, if you're _absolutely_ sure you have 4.5.x version of .NET installed and not just 4.6.x (you need both) then I'm all out of ideas. You can't do it via windows though, you'll have to do a manual install as it will assume you want the latest version and not 4.5.x It's been a while since I had to install 4.5.x though so I'm not sure the exact procedure for circumventing windows update, but it's doable. The important thing is making sure Mod Manager can call 4.5.x .NET system calls instead of 4.6.x The error messages are not all that helpful unfortunately. They're basically saying "really low level bad stuff is happening" ;)
  18. Alright then, the next thing to try since you've had to refresh windows is your .NET framework. Mod Manager can be twitchy about the version you're using. Trying downloading and installing version 4.5.x from Microsoft, then running Mod Manager again. You can go to control panel and see what version you have first and make sure you're installing a different version first. I think the standard version for windows 10 is 4.6.x. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42643
  19. If I had to guess given the sequence of events, I'd say you have one of three problems: 1. The old Patch_ModManagerMerge is corrupt and causing MM to crash on startup. Move it somewhere else/delete it since it clearly isn't working anyway. 2. You have a damaged mod in your mod directory. MM looks their and caches them immediately after locating the DAI exe and will crash if one of them is faulty or there is a problem with the directory. (you moved it or something after the windows crash). If need be, back up and then delete the entire directory and restore one mod at a time. 3. Less likely given what you've said, but it will also crash if you picked the 32bit version to install from DAITools instead of the 64bit version of MM for windows 10. All of this is assuming you've done the usual troubleshooting stuff of course.
  20. Not come across this problem before. Is it all modded hairstyles or have you noticed which specific ones are causing it? I assume it's not happening with vanilla hairstyles. What's your graphics card and what graphics setting are you playing the game on?
  21. Have a look at the modding tutorials over here. The daitools forum is also where a lot of Dragon age modders hang out and can help you. Hair modding isn't really my area though sorry. But welcome to our merry little band. There's also quite a few of us on Tumblr (you could start with DAIModder and a few modders sharing images of their creations using Nexus images.
  22. That looks like Skaramoosh's hair retexture you're trying to merge. My guess would be you've selected both the smooth and realistic versions of her mod at the same time. You can only use ONE. Best way is to only have the one you want to use in your active mod folder so you don't have to remember to untick one of them every time you change your mods around and have to re-merge. Have a look here if you're still having problems: http://daimodder.tumblr.com/post/128470102064/mod-manager-troubleshooting-tips
  23. Lots of mods, especially older and larger mods cause problems on loading into Trespasser for the first time. The safest thing is to remove most of them, if not all of them, then load into the Winter Palace, make a save and then remerge them again. Some will still not work, like a lot of Formal Wear replacers or big mesh changers. It's a problem that's being worked on. Smaller mods and those which are only hex edits are generally fine for the first load. e.g. quicker looting, war table no waiting. All of mine seem to load ok too but they are all simple hex edits. Live like viv should be fine too.
  24. Scenery and furniture disappearing is usually due to mesh loading problems. The first mods to start removing are the ones that will definitely be loaded during those scenes you describe. For the chess scene, is he playing with Dorian to start with? Remove any mods that affect Cullen or Dorian, either appearance or clothing. Then remove any mods that affect the appearance of the inquisitor (who is also in the scene obviously), cosmetics, PJ retextures, hair. It's very unlikely to be anything that doesn't get loaded in Skyhold. Then move onto anyone else in Skyhold companions and advisors. Start with armors and appearance changers. It's not: War table - no waiting Increased Inventory Capacity Yes, we know about Mythal Eluvian intro skip and it's definitely not Open all Halla Doors. If all that fails, your only option is to remove them all and add them back one by one until you trace the problem, but my guess is that you're missing one or forgetting about one that does affect the scenes that are causing the problem, and it's almost certainly a mesh altering mod of some sort.
  25. Ha ha. Well, I hope you have fun. Just a couple of tips. Add mods to your game slowly rather than dl-ing 200 all at once and hoping for the best. Follow the instructions carefully and always read the comments section to make sure the mod is still up to date and being supported. Unfortunately we've had lot of patches to deal with over the last year from Bioware which have broken many of the once popular mods and many modders have now left the community. The comments section is your best bet for checking if they still work. Have fun.
