LHammonds
This may be a simple-looking sword but the prominant feature is its pommel. Subsurf and smooth are not tools that can be used on it. Although, it could be modeled very quickly with use of the mirror modifier on the X and Y axis. The texture for the leather can be done exactly how I did the leather for Day Walker Sword. A simple black diffuse color and a normal map that is converted from a leather texture that looks similar to what is shown in the reference picture. The reference picture on the left is a VERY nice reference which gives you the correct dimensions of height, length and width. The pommel should look like this with no smoothing. It should be a separate object from the handle and sword to allow for a different surface. The handle should use the smoothing option as well as the crossguard. The blade can be configured to have 2 objects as well with the inside being smoothed (where the bloodletting groove is) and then no smoothing for the cutting edges. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/Conan_Lon/Oblivion/WIP/CrossSwordPommel.png http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/Conan_Lon/Oblivion/WIP/CrossSwordSet2.png LHammonds
