Permissions Questions

Hello, I need to know some brief details regarding permissions to use other peoples mod content. Normally, this isn't a problem, but I've lost one of my written consent messages, and have two non-responders. Oh, and this is for a rather large project which will be done in about 2 more days.

 

First the non-responders. It's been 2 years, lolz, since I first asked them, and I haven't gotten a response about it. I assume this falls under "abandoned" by now, and I can just use the resources. If I can, I will still state that I can and will delete the file if suddenly the individuals I asked for permission approach me wanting their content pulled.

 

The written consent I lost was for a mod author who is now banned, and I can no longer contact him to get a new digital consent doc. I had permission to use it, but I no longer possess a digital copy of the consent as evidence should some random guy try and make life difficult for me by flagging the released mod for moderation. The mod author is still likely cool with it... mainly because he was cool with the project when I first started it 4 years ago, but I know that it's best to get these things sorted now rather than later. For this case, what I thought about doing was requiring his original mod packet as a download, but not packaging it with my actual resource. It's extra leg work for you guys, but... it guarantees that I'm at least making an attempt to use his stuff credibly.

Second, lost permission, same as no permission, no upload. No exception.

 

You must have permission to use another author's work in your mod before you can upload said mod. No exceptions. No excuses. For further clarification, left click on "Terms of Service" above.

 

This is the rule for which you are looking: "Absolutely no copyrighted work is to be used without permission of the original creator. This includes content from other games, from DLCs, music creators or from other file authors."
