gumballthechewy
every time i start it up i play for about and hour and BAM! it crashes to the desktop saying oblivion.exe has encounterd an error and has to close i start it back up play for another hour or so and BAM! again it happins. now maybe oblivion just hates me (cuz i know that damn mail man does!) or maybe my comp cant handle it but it was a top of the line in late 2006. cant remember what anythings called in it cuz when it comes to computers *pthhhhh* for get about it! i dont know s***. the settings are: all view distince maxed every thing else as low as they can go. resolution 1024x768. oh plus i got about 30 mods but i used the oblivion mod conflict detector and got rid of everything that made one or the other red so its all green and yellow now but it still crashes so im all out of ideas and now i think bethsda is just out to get me thru there games. but im watching im always watching. i am a ninja  and i will kill all at bethsda. wuha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Povuholo
Eh? Okay. You could try playing with lower graphics settings for a while, and see whether the game still crashes.
Mithrandir8
I have this problem occasionally too. I have found a way to fix it also. Next time you log on, gain acess as an administrater. Then go to the control panel and click disk defragmentation. I don't know if you have ever done this, but every once in a while it needs to be done because of how many times Oblivion saves files and overwrites them. It will take a long time but after I did this my entire game ran a lot smooter and the crashes went away.
gumballthechewy
to Povuholo:everything is at the lowest other than view distince and res but i guess that both are graphic hogs. ill try mithrandir8's idea first. mostly because i dont really wanna play it any lower than i got it. to Mithrandir8:i forgot all about defraging ill try that and if dont work i guess ill go out and buy the top o' the line computer after i blackmail the world for *Dr. Evil vioce* one hundred billion dollars. *finger to the mouth thingy he does* also it use to play just fine a couple of months back. so im gonna try a defrag. Jumonji
I was crashing for awhile until I finally figured out the problem - I had installed a mod but one of the graphic menu icons wasn't there. So whenever it tried to display the missing icon, it crashed. So - if all else fails - download your mods from scratch and reinstall them. Just to be sure. I haven't crashed in weeks. Oblivion, I mean. -Jumonji
