Torian101
Hello all, I am currently in the process of creating a new world space that has portals to all other major areas in Oblivion (portals to: Major cities in Cyrodill, all Oblivion planes, the Shivering Isles, etc). The land itself is not too horribly big, but distance is definitely a factor. The problem I constantly seem to come across is that whenever I test my landscape, the landscape in front of me seems invisible until I get really close, at which point it just seems to pop up. I think this has something to do with DistantLOD, though I could be totally wrong. What I've done to solve this:-Used the "Generate LOD" function in the Heightmap Editor-Used the "Generate LOD and Texture" in the Render Window-Ran my mod (.esp and .esm) through TES4 LODGen-Used TESGecko to move Worldspaces I think I used another program, but I can't really remember at the moment.Anyway, I've started over more times then I care to count and I'm getting quite annoyed by this. Is there anyone out there that can help me solve this? EDIT: Though I've dabbled with the TESCS and GECK quite a bit, I'm still a noob with most of it. Torian101
Take a look at the Landscape LOD Tutorial. I did, I checked out every tutorial even remotely associated with this problem...nothing worked.
Hickory
Take a look at the Landscape LOD Tutorial. I did, I checked out every tutorial even remotely associated with this problem...nothing worked. Every tutorial? Surely if you checked every tutorial you must have missed an important step.
Torian101
Ok sure I might not have looked at every single tutorial, but atleast every one I could find on the subject  What do you do when you create a new worldspace that I'm not?Basically I go through it like this:Go to the World Spaces menu, create new world space, set its weather, water type, name the space.go to heightmap editing, draw the outline of my worldspace on it (I do not use Fractal World Explorer or anything like that). Use the cake method described on the cs wiki to layer my height levels, use the noise tool, erode tool to get rid of sharp edges. Finally in the heightmap editor I generate LOD for the landmass (full, not the fast one). Then I start checking individual cells for errors and if I find em, I go over them with the flatten or soften terrain option in landscape editing. In the render window, I then rightclick and select the LOD generation option there, let it finish...and voila! Or not. I also attempted to finish all the heightmap editing, then saving my mod as an .esm, then making additional changes to regions and such in the .esp...didn't work.I've done roughly these steps in all kinds of different orders more times then I care to remember, yet here I am. Hickory
That sounds pretty much it, so now I have to ask: do you have Distant Land turned on in-game?
Torian101
That sounds pretty much it, so now I have to ask: do you have Distant Land turned on in-game? If you are referring to the graphic settings of the game, I can only say I have everything on max. I can see Frostcrag from the Imperial City and vice versa...so I'd say yes  The distant land thing works in SI, vanilla and every single other mod I've downloaded from here, I have for example, the Elsweyr Anequina mod, which works fine, with distant land visible and all. It's just my own worldspace that just doesn't seem to want to conform.
Hickory
Then I'm stumped. I am no landscape expert by any means. Perhaps somebody with more knowledge will come along and point you in the right direction.

Thanks anyway, you tried  Yeah I hope someone else here is kind enough to share their wisdom on the subject, this mod is getting on my nerves >:(
Lanceor
If the land itself is not showing until you get close (looking like you're always walking towards a cliff) then somehow the landscape LOD meshes aren't working. I take it you've checked out the naming bug already? Another thing you can test is copy and rename another worldspace's landscape LOD - it will look completely wrong for your worldspace, but at least it will tell you whether LOD is working or not.
