Ru5tyShackleford
I have started looking for a good follower mod, but I don't know which one I should really use. The top two i'm looking at right now is UFO and AFT however, I don't know which I should go with. I want to have multiple followers and be able to use my home is your home, convenient horses, and other follower mods I may come across too. It would be better if either of these have lower scripts and better compatibility. So which one should I use, or are there any others I should know of?Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.
blattgeist
UFO is very outdated. I'd go with AFT, it's compatible with the mods that you mentioned. It's also the follower mod that I use. There is one more, simplier mod though SMF (simple multiple followers) and another one Extensible Follower Framework (EFF). Might check their description pages out. Personally. The 2 biggest ones so far are AFT and EFF, with EFF being constantly updated. Personally I prefer AFT's dialogue menus over EFFs wheel choices. And it's still working fine up to this day. pcaviator
I'd recommend Extensible Follower Framework
gulogulo
AFT+Advanced Skyrim Overhaul (check out Minion system) You can also add some horse mod if you want the follower to have mounted combat
Ru5tyShackleford
Sorry for not replying! Forgot to track my own post. :wallbash:So I guess UFO is out of my list. Would AFT or EFF have issues with modded followers? (I remember some mods have warnings about UFO). Also how good is SFM compared to these others. Also, should these work with sandboxing followers? Thanks for the replies! Edits:I keep leaving stuff out. Mofakin
The more people claim Mods are outdated, the less it becomes true, if the Mod already had gone final. Given how AFT has seen it's last update on May 2013, I wonder how it counts more "up to date" then UFO. It's important to describe how the Mods differ, rather then give a personally biased feedback. UFO is just as well "up to date" as AFT, if you use the last stable version 1.2i, which is the last version fLooki made, the original creator. UFO has "unlimited" follower support, AFT has support for 5 followers only. Ufo does its stuff via dialogue like in Vanilla game, AFT does it's stuff via complex default menus (not MCM or Flash made menus in that regards, which could count as "outdated"), and even complexer dialogue structure. UFO in version 1.2i is much more stable then AFT in version 1.66, mainly due to the fact that AFT has a lot of BETA features included, probably just to outclass UFO. Compatibility with third party Mods is the same for both Mods. At all rates, I'd always recommend using Extensible Follower Framework due to it's professional display, it's number of features and general convenience, utilizing lfash menus...or, you just take a completely different Mod with said BETA risk, but promised support and continous feature addition till Ragnarök... Follower Mod Also, there's Kuertee's follower Mod... http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31581/?
avallanche
Just my 2 cents, but in my experience UFO, outdated or not, is still the better option. Easy, functional and stable... I've being using it for year without a problem. Tried another one a few months back, had some small problems and just went back to use UFO. As he said above, I don't consider it outdated, but finalized. Works perfectly for me. I don't use many fancy followers mods, but with the ones I use, never had trouble either. sLoPpYdOtBiGhOlE
UFO is not good at all, sure it's easy to use, but code wise it's not good at all. 1) It edits the vanilla DialogueFollower quest and script (plus a few more vanilla quest and scripts).Which in turn has the potential to break any other mods that is expecting to sub class the native vanilla DialogueFollower script functions or properties. 2) it's altering the main core of the follower system in Skyrim which is at some point bound to conflict with other mods and native game quests.eg:"How come I can only get one follower to follow me with UFO""My follower says they will follow but they don't""I can't dismiss my follower, I dismiss them, they say ok, but they don't leave and the dialogue is like they are still following""I try to give my follower to Delphine and it doesn't work"and many, many more such crap ends up happening at some point if your someone that changes mods like underwear. 3) "You are weak, train some" is broken and it the fragment for the dialogue is using the same code as "You could dress better".This method of you can dress better breaks native follower outfits even when you visit tina ad do the right thing, which in turn causes nudity when your not wanting it. On it's own with no other mods UFO code is fine, but combing ufo with current day mods, then ufo code plain and simple is butcherous and should be avoided. This is not an opinion, it a plain and simple fact. Mofakin
UFO is not good at all, sure it's easy to use, but code wise it's not good at all. Nonsense. 1. And so does AFT as well as EFF2. And so does AFT and EFF...even Kuertee does it3. It does only if you are using Mods that are conflicting...same is true for AFT and EFF This is not an opinion, it a plain and simple fact. No, it's a biased missinformation you've hooked up on because anybody does.
avallanche
And yet I have being using it for years without any problems... Funny that the only time I had one of the problems mentioned, I wasn't using UFO, but anyway... ^^
