Hey guys,

so i want to play NV again after a looong time and before fallout4 ;P

Since i loved the mods always i want to mod it accordingly and as much as possible to have a nice experience playing it again (maybe 6th time)

so my question is, which modmanager should i use, and which mods should i use. And are there any new mods i really should try out?

For a mod manager, NMM is by the same guy that made FOMM. He used his experience making FOMM to make an improved mod manager.

And FOMM is not going to work with FO4. But NMM will be updated for it.

You will see a lot of hate for NMM in the forums right now, but these are ALL from people who had a working older version of NMM and had problems transferring their existing mods to the new version. Not everyone had these problems, but some of those that did have been really obnoxious about it. If you are just starting with NMM, that will not be a problem at all. If you are going to be transferring mods, please be sure to make a backup of your old data folder first. Then READ the documentation on the new version.

As for mods, the entire premise of using mods is to make your game unique to you and not just a clone of what everybody else is playing.

Here is a link to the top mods lists - all mods listed in order from most popular down. These are going to be the most recommended because they are the most popular.

@geekminxen - Thanks for fixing that for me.

Note: I gave a link to the FO3 top files instead of the New Vegas top files. The link from geekminxen is the proper one.

bben46, thanks for your response in post #2. I had the same question as OP. I've played Skyrim recently for over 550 hours; I've used NMM for all my modding needs. I also wondered whether to use FOMM or NMM for F:NV. Skyrim also has the equivalent of FOMM, which I've never used.

I've played F:NV for less than an hour a couple years ago, and have now decided to give it a serious go (kinda burned-out on Skyrim). So, I also had the "which mods should I use?" question. I've been looking through NMM's Top Files section to see which were the most heavily downloaded; I assume if a mod has 100,000+ downloads, I really, really should look at it. Of course, I'm using the F:NV version of Skyrim's SKSE, MCM, and TES5Edit.

I've converted my Skyrim NMM setup to the new NMM 0.60 version, so using v 0.60 for F:NV should do well for me.

Sidebar: F:NV no longer works for me, so I'll probably need to remove/re-install my Steam version.

Sidebar #2: Love your comment "Sometimes I think we spend more time getting mods to work than we do playing the game - I know I do." I'm a modder for Kerbal Space Program. There are months when I don't play the game, because I'm neck-deep in modding.
