The real vampire was not a vampire at all. late 1300's Transilvania, Romania. Vlad the Impaler.

His surname, Dracula, translates to the Dragon.

Actually, Dracula is a mix up of the word "dracul", which means "devil" in romanian (I dont know where you found out that it translates to the Dragon, completly fake). I should know, I am romanian.

I think there are some things ThomasCovenant mentioned that would make great additions to the game. But like a few people have already stated here, i too think that too much realism in a game can take away its fun factor.

There are quite a lot of things in his list i could comment on, but i just don't have the time right now so maybe later.

...A knight could not walk under his own strength in full plate armor...

A modern soldier typically hauls more weight in gear on his back than the 50-60 pounds of thin, flat metal a knight bore evenly distributed over his entire body.

You are correct in saying that. One time I was at a renaissance fair, and I went to a tent with real plate armour. When I was holding it, it easily weighed about 10-15 pounds (the cuirass). However, after I put it on, it wasn't as heavy, maybe 5 pounds.

ok, y'all.

thanks for even taking time to talk to a newbie.

I was just taking some time to answer some other writers "need" for more realism.

I personally do not want realism.

My real life is working, sleeping, eating, working, playing games when my pc doesn't decide to overclock on its own, working, and being robbed by the tax man.

Please note that this is not a rant.

AND for those that enjoy writing that they don't understand why I would even bother to write at all, and just keep my strange opinions to my self...well then WHY are you writing on this forum?

For me, it's because I signed up to do so, and because here in the World Empire of America it is a RIGHT.

Um...for now anyway...

again...Thanks for answering.

ok...um...thanks for the correction.

My info came from some books with titles like "You are being lied to", "everything you know is wrong", etc.

Here in the states, most of the other countries histories are hidden from us. We have to find out for ourselves from those that would know...like you.

Thanks.

Games are getting more real by the day. Although I think there is more to complain about in Gameplay than Realism. If we look at Assassin's Creed from Ubisoft, the realism in that game is absolutely amazing but it might not have the trengths of Oblivion. Then if we look at Oblivion, I think that it probably has a lot more playtime and content than almost all the RPGs out there. I think every game has its own strength for it to be enjoyable but they are all fantasies for us players to build on to start off with. So I guess games can be any where on the realism spectrum since every point on spectrum can provide us with some kind of enjoyment.

There's always Lady Bathory. According to legend, she bathed in blood to sustain beauty and youth. But that's just legend. Historical fact has her standing accused of simply torturing and murdering a bunch of young women, sans the sanguine hygiene practices.

Some aspects you mentioned really anoy me in Oblivion, but I am sure some of that will eventually be made into a mod. But I recently bought shivering Isles, and the Isles are a whole different dimension seperate from cyrodill, but if you commit a crime in Cyrodil... Somehow every single guard in the whole of the SEPERATE DIMENSION that is the SI know about it! And it's the other way around.

Really!? That's not right...or maybe it is? I didn't find that out, but I have, just now. I'm never caught for crimes, that doesn't mean I don't commit them. I'm just not caught. I once dug a hole and filled it with clouds, or was it clowns?

Hey so it was you! Anyways realism is kinda nice but not at all needed.
