silversmith
Today I bought Shivering Isles, and have been experimenting with mods that effect it. Conflict manager does not recognize any conflicts with mods I have downloaded, but from consistant crashing I knew something was going on. I finally got the crashing to stop by disabling MMM. Now this could have been luck, but it's possible that MMM interferes with Shivering Isles in some way that the conflict manager didn't recognize. With MMM activated I couldn't even get near to the "gateway" that the expansion ads (trying to be vague so I don't spoil anything) without a crash. Now I don't create mods, and I don't know for sure what was going on, but I personally think MMM had something to do with it (at least in my case). Anyways, just a bit of a warning to everyone to keep an eye out for problems. Also, if anyone else experiences conflicts post them here :) Silversmith
Parkillous
Lol I thought about this ages ago, thats why im not buying SI until the big mods like OOO, frans, MMM etc are tweaked to work with it... because im pretty sure that they will cause crashes such as these and also... all the stuff in SI will bear the generic loot and levelling system of bethesda, which will ruin it for me personally... so im waiting :)

elpiggo
I don't know if it's out here, but I never buy stuff as soon as it comes out. *cough*PeoplethatwereupatmidnighttogetaPS3*cough* Maybe you can fix mod issues manually.

21603
Any word on a new version of the CS that everyone was assuming we would get with Shivering Isles?
atribecalledcha
Any word on a new version of the CS that everyone was assuming we would get with Shivering Isles?to quote from this20. There is no denying that Oblivion depends on a large game modding community. Are you planning on giving this community more advanced tools such as an up-to-date Construction Set or an exporter for 3dsMax in the near future? Right now, modders often have to revert to needlessly complicated methods to achieve the same quality as the original game. If not, is it due to contractual obligations with the third party software creators?Well, I could deny it, since the console versions don’t depend on it at all and the majority of people playing Oblivion play the console versions, but that’s me just being a smart-ass. Anyway, we really, really push hard on making our stuff really mod friendly and putting out our tools, and I’m glad we got the wiki site running so well. We’re very proud of what the tools allow and what users have made, I think we have the best mod-community in the world, and it really is one of the reasons the game is so popular. Ok, now to the actual question, which is our art exporter. We have an internal Max version 5 nif exporter we use. It only works on that version and it is NOT a slick program. The other ones people are already using for Oblivion that we didn’t make get the job done just as well. Why didn’t we release ours? It’s a very long answer that is mostly legal stuff, from all the middleware we use to…other things that complicate it more. Anyway, we feel strongly that if we can’t really support the exporter the way we want, there’s no reason to have one when similar ones are already being used. Search the CS wiki, and you’ll find excellent alternatives to creating art for Oblivion, and trust me when I say our ways are just as complicated. You aren’t missing a thing. crazydave
Any word on a new version of the CS that everyone was assuming we would get with Shivering Isles? They have to do a new CS. I got SI yesterday and after installing it I wanted to take a look around in the CS. But instead of creating a new esm SI just updates the old one. so now when I try to load the oblivion.esm I get a message telling me that its a higher version than the CS can load, and since all plugins depend on the esm, I cant do any modding at all untill they come out with a new CS >:(
Sypron
SI doesn't change the Oblivion esm, it adds a new plugin file. Its very small too, just 85 bytes. I know that sounds wierd but just boot it up with the v1.2 CS (elderscrolls.com) and you can make mods. By the way, the SI plugin file is called DLCShivering Isles, so it does have DLC at the beginning.
