Kibosh
I would like to upload an updated version of a mod that already has over 100000 downloads on its counter. The updating process has been changed since last summer and I am reluctant to try anything for fear of clearing out the mod's statistics (a little memento I would like to retain for future references). Please advise. Will uploading the new file, setting it to primary, and removing the old file keep the counter, or there is another procedure that needs to be followed? SlappyMeats
Yeah, no kidding...one would think that updating a file would be made quite obvious... I'm not trying to kill my download progress for some fixes.
Dark0ne
Removing files will not reduce the counter under "Total Downloads".
clintonius
Removing files will not reduce the counter under "Total Downloads".It reset my 'Total Downloads' counter when I updated one of my mods recently.
Dark0ne
If you updated within the last 48 hours it didn't. The counter has only been there for that long.
SlappyMeats
I replaced a file only yesterday, and the counter was definitely reset.

Dark0ne
You uploaded it on the 3rd...not updated it. I'm only talking about adding new files and removing old ones within the same database entry. Of course if you add a whole new entry it's not going to remember your dl count.
SlappyMeats
No, I uploaded it, got a bunch of downloads, then had to put up a new version of the file with fixes in it. I uploaded the new file in the same entry, then removed the old file. The counter, at this point, went from 91 to 0. If that's not "updating" it, then I can't say I know what "updating" means on this site, because there certainly is no "update" option in the file management screen. If I'm going about the process the wrong way, then maybe instead of telling me that something that I witnessed happen didn't happen, help out and explain how to go about updating files that are already uploaded. I searched the site and found no sort of instruction on how to do so, so I naturally assumed that replacing the file with a new upload was the only way to make it work. It'd probably be rather helpful to everybody if the correct way to do it were noted somewhere on the site.
