[LE] Question Involving Adding Marriage to Custom NPCs

Recommended Posts

Hello! I recentally made my second mod ever and created a character for a friend. I set the character up to be an Imperial Legion Soldier, using the MaleSoldier voice. Both of us have the More Follower Voces Mod MFVM which enables characters with voices such as these to become followers/marriable and such. The character works fine as a follower, but cannot be married. I assumed it's because the voice has 0 dialloge that would even work for marriage, but after messing with other voices I discovered that MaleCommoner is the exact same voice actor AND has marriage dialoge. You can actually marry one with this voice. I was wondering, how would one go about simplya dding those dialoge options which already exist onto the character I made? I tried doing it myself, but the only way I saw was through quests/AI packages and I don't know enough about that to even guess. I'm guessing it's rather easy, so any help or guidence would be much appreciated!

Did you add them in to the right faction?

Yes, added them to PotentialMarriage faction at rank 0. If given a base game (Marriable) voice (or MaleCommoner like I mentioned) the character can be married, but I am hopeing to add the MaleCommoner's marriage dialoge lines onto my character who uses the MaleSoldier voice as they are by the same voice actor.

You made sure to set the relationship rank to 3 or 4, yes?

If so, and the issue persists, you could always make unique dialogue, for the MaleSoldier voicetype, in the marriage quest by using pre-existing .fuz files. I've a mod, that provides rename pair lists to be used with Bulk Rename Utility, to make it painless to find suitable dialogue files.

Yes, I set the relationship to a high enough rank, so that's not the issue. As for making unique dialoge, that's something that I wouldn't mind attempting. I'll try what you mentioned, and see if I can get it to work. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I believe I found where I need to do this. Within the Marriage quest I found the options that npcs can say, and their assigned voicetypes. I'm hesitant to mess with any since this is a base-game quest, but I'm almost certain this is where everything goes. What should I do from here? Here's a picture of what I'm looking at. http://puu.sh/kYLbS/9f702bcdc4.png

Speaking from experience, as I did the same thing for around 32 of Skyrim's voices that did not have follower dialogue by default, the task isn't hard. It's just tedious replicate the dialogue and the papyrus fragments (mainly due to the CK being slow as hell when opening windows). Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to do one voice, once you figure out the methodology.

I ran into a snag. (Got so close, yet so far.) I got the quest to trigger and the dialoge to work, but during the ceromony he says nothing. I'm guessing I'd have to mess with the script, but I don't know anything about it. Guess I'll just admit defeat and use one that will work. Thanks for all the help!

Have you checked the scene dialogue? Quest window -> "Scenes" tab

Scenes have their own dialogue, separate from the "Dialogue Views" tab.

@FiftyTifty could you post a thorough guide as to how to add marriage dialogue to npc's from the vanilla game with a unique voice? From the look of this thread so far, you know what your doing. I wanted to add marriage dialogue to Astrid, but I have no idea what to do or how to do it and the task seems just so daunting. I need help. Badly. So? How bout it?

Hi there to anyone reading this,

I know this is an old thread and hate to revive it but I too am wondering how to do this. I have custom standalone fully voiced NPC's and would like to add them to the marriage quest and make it fully function the same as it would for a generic npc, same lines and everything re-recodred for each one. I'd also like information on how to make follower spouse have Heartfire compatible dialogue. If anyone has information on how to do any of this could they provide the knowledge please, or link to any sites that do. More knowledge out there equals higher mod quality and helps modders out greatly.

Could someone out there who is kind enough please provide a step by step guide on here, video, pictures or write out everything in detail for all that wish to know how to do this, or link to other sites. I've never seen anyone successfully do this. Very few Voiced follower mods even have marriage sadly and all that I've seen have their own separate marriage quest, I would prefer to use the default marriage quest and add my custom voiced followers to it, if possible. Thanks.
