If you have the Steam version of FO3, there are instructions on Steam on how to move the entire Steam folder out of "Program Files".

Having the game installed there places it under the User Access Control of Windows and makes it very difficult to mod the game.

When you reinstall Fallout 3, make sure you do not install it in "Program Files". A lot of people install it in the "MY GAMES" folder. I have mine installed directly on the "C" drive.

When you install, make sure you also install the 1.7 patch.

The guide you are using looks good, except when using FOSE or FOMM, you do not need the GFWL disabler since both FOSE and FOMM disable it. But you still need xlive.dll and xlive.ini present in the game file.

This is a very good guide: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/

and this one: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1465357-installing-fallout-3-with-windows-78-and-xp/

I don't think it makes any difference what drive you use, as long as it isn't in the Windows "Program Files" and you have all the other game related files in the same place.

If your equipment is up to the minimum specs, I am puzzled as to why the game won't run.

Well i dont understand how you could manage to get over 100 plugins to work together but maybe i should just play without mods.

My specs are completely ok i can play on ultra high so that isnt the problem.

I am not the only one with over 100 files in a load order. Most of the people who have been here awhile can do the same. It takes practice, attention to detail, patience and an understanding of how your system works.

Also, many of us are using the older Windows operating systems, not Windows 8.1 or 10.

What can you play on ultra high? You are saying that you have a problem with Fallout 3.

I am at a complete loss as to why you can't run a modded game. I'm sorry, but I am completely out of ideas.

verify the engines version ID what version IS IT.

the patch can some time NOT patch the engine if that game is installed in C:\program Files directory ,the system will NOT allow it to overwrite files there.

I am not at a loss as I have seen this take place..so verify the games engine version...IF it has not been updated though you may have tried to update it, it will not run any mods currently here...all mods to date use the 1.7 version of this game.

Only old, real old mods will run with the older version of the game.
