If you only have 512 ram you may need to turn down the graphics all the way, witch unfortunatly means no distant land and painfully low resolution. If you want to boost fps a bit you could go into video options, and turn down view distance.

I upgraded my computer to 1g RAM, I don't see loading screens anymore. Wonderfull stuff that corsair memory. Also try turning of grass. As pretty as it looks, I find it gets in the way and it is just another few hundred polygons to render.

Your RAM isn't the problem, though having 1GB definitely helps. I think it's more your graphics card. The GeForce FX series is one of the worst graphics card series out there. Either get a low end GeForce 6 series (like the 6200) which I think are pretty cheap these days... or perhaps a lower end ATI Radeon. Pretty much anything's better than an FX. ^^;

I would suggest so, as I have an FX, earlier than yours admittedly, and the game won't even start after the opening video. So yeah, it's probably due to the ram and video card
