FO4dreamer
I have had an ancient system (Athlon X2 240, GTX460, 8GB, Win7-Pro64) for many years now. Performance in FO3 and NV has been spotty, so I decided to do a PC overhaul. Got a good deal on an Asus Z97 mobo, i5-4690K, 16GB DDR3-1600, GTX960 4GB SuperClocked. I'm pretty certain that number of component changes is going to require a Win7 re-auth, so I think I'll format and start this 250GB SSD fresh while I'm at it. Too much junk in the registry, from stuff no longer installed. I already have the FO4 Steam Pre-load done (23GB), and with the Steam version of NV my Steam folder is 34GB. If I back the entire Steam folder to a 64GB flash drive can I drag it back in after format? PC name, Username, and install path will remain the same - heck, I'll even name the HDD the same label after format. Or am I gonna have to download that whole 23GB pile again no matter what? Last option - and least desirable in my mind - is to reinstall Win7 on top of itself without formatting. TIA for your advice/opinions!

JimboUK
Put the Steam folder where you want it on the new PC, delete everything inside it except for the Steam.exe, the Appdata folder and UserData folder, now double click the Steam.exe and let it do its thing.
