SMB92
Not sure if a thread has already started but i wanted to start a thread on this Edited - first post was a bit "excited". 6 hours in now. Basically i am diving in head first, love the new combat, but starting to feel more to be desired. Its definitely deserving the title of EPIC GAME, but i have started to feel that this has been fairly rushed/badly thought about in some areas, mainly survival role playing VATS is actually cool, 1HP left against the blood mozzie and VATS saved me. Rads up to 100+ in small amount of time searching around SH. Radroaches had me on the backfoot when i missed them coming through the fauna. Molerats were fun popping up all over the place. Caps have been hard to find with a luck of 3 So, back on track (lots of things in my head lol), there is I find a severe lacking to the survival mode. While the gun play and creatures have an amazing upgrade, weapon/armor degradation is non existant, hunger/thirst/sleep is non existant, bleeding isnt a factor (blood is a bit weird in general), Stimpaks have been somewhat easy to find along with a bunch of other chems, weapons are abundant once you proceed as well as items in general (apart from adhesives which are rather valuable now) and i find the nights too bright and days too glary (cant see where the sun is supposed to be though). Its clear there is some inspiration from Project Nevada here with some of the features, but the more i play, the more i feel the disappointment. Sure the gun play is great but i feel there is no struggle to survive. A legendary enemy might provide me with a challenging gun fight, but apart from a few stimpacks, no further planning required unless you need ammo. Also, stealth has been breezy but then i have my Agility at 7. I have also picked up 3 extra SPECIAL points by level 3. And lets not talk about the drivers crashing after an hour and a bit, and seemingly other age old glitches. And the gfx arent anywhere near what i saw in the trailers IMO, but i expected that. So now its "surviving Bethesdas programming" instead of the wasteland :/
StonerMk2
Pretty sure Survivalist mode is just the hardest difficulty and not a "survival" mode like NV Hardcore mode.
Poacher886
Im not even going to bother playing until a Hardcore mode is modded in..biggest disappointment yet. Cant believe they didn't ass it in after NV???
yunage
I really had hoped they would include this after New Vegas. Even a basic implementation would have been alright. Time to wait for the modders to fix this. I know, total shocker.
aguadotito
Yes we need a hardcore mod.
SMB92
I am lost without a hardcore needs or even equipmnet degradation system, sure that Deathclaw had a lot of HP but all that says is Bethesda is back with their crappy scaling system. Survival should be survival, not just "Legendary" difficulty.
zengrath
I'm on survivalist and surprised how easy it is. i was expecting enemies to be bullet sponges but honestly still only takes a few bullets to kill all normal ones. named ones take a bit longer. i'm expecting it to get harder as i progress or level up i suppose. I made mistake in first town where you rescue the people under attack, the very first main quest. I didn't understand where the power armor was, i ended up fighting all the bandits including the deathclaw with few weapons and ammo i started within in first 30 minutes of game play and i beat them all, it took me about 5 reloads but i was able to kill them all and deathclaw without any autosaves in middle of battle. On survival, without using power armor. Only thing i can think of is game auto levels like oblivion so everything is super easy in beginning an will scale up hard later, if not then then need a harder mode! I noticed on survival mode food heals me and is super easy to come across, like infinite stimpacks, previous games food didn't heal on hardest mode. So that's an odd change.. Anyway i'll play through this round on survival see if things change later, otherwise i'm still i'll play again once hardcore balance mods come out in future which i'm sure is a long time from now, so i'll enjoy what i got for now  Not really complaining too much i'm just wondering if gets easier or harder more i progress on survival difficulty. First 10 hours so far have been a breeze, i've wiped out many areas full of bandits without much issue, bandits with mini guns and all, using my tactics in used to use in my old counter strike days must give me an advantage though. On other hand i've noticed no bugs at all, not even npcs glitching out standing in odd places or on objects etc, i've had 0 crashes, and my 6 year old pc with only graphics card upgraded to 980gtx but using first gen i7-920 cpu 12gb ram etc. my game auto-detected at ultra high and is runnning smooth, i didn't touch any settings just let it default to 1080p ultra high preset. i"m impressed honestly this is least buggiest bethesda game i've ever played, in past games i would crash at least once a half hour, even skyrim and worst so in fallout 3 games and before and would take a while to figure out how to reduce the crashes enough to make me want to play. SMB92
I think Bethesda just leaves it to the modders now. No wonder they want paid mods, to fill in thier gaps and rake in the profits. It is piss easy. Legendary radroach took one shell to the face.
Boombro
It is piss easy. Legendary radroach took one shell to the face. To be fair, it just a big roach, and it a shotgun. Try the swan boat. I noticed they don't buff to make it harder. Fo4 is all about sneaky ganks and not that one scary boss with 1025034 HP and super armor. And the scaling system is different, all you have faced now is riders, bugs and ghouls near the start, right? There are areas with higher scaling and some lower. Maybe on edges of the maps where you need some time to reach.
SMB92
Ive had a few mobs sneak up on me, well at least catch me off guard. I still put away legendary enemies quickly with the right tactics, apart from being general bullet sponges the only real thing i have found difficult about them is that they throw grenades more often and more precisely. Muties are hard in a group and yao gai take a good few hits and backpeddling to kill, that feels okay so far. Nearing lvl20 now so ill be interested. All in all, i really miss the hardcore needs, equipment degradation and ammo weight, ill keep raving about that until the cows come home :(
