Centered 3rd person camera mod

I tried to contact one of the previous modders but he was last seen on this website a couple of months ago (therefore inactive for now...), but I think there are severals.

If you find one of the modders that made this for Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim please send him a message to try and repeat it for Fallout 4, easy visibility for them as it's one of the easiest mods probably but still top downloaded.

Really wish this was just a freaking option, by the time i get to 'play' the game, it'll come out as a GOTY version.

First person is ok i spose, but 3rd (proper not this lopsided headache s***) person is how i feel fo's should be played(since fo3)

And ffs why do they keep trying to force it on us? is it a 'keep force feeding it and eventually they will like it' mindset?

Ya, with all the new changes to the game's setup I feel like this is a bit of an oversight. Hell, they've /almost/ included Bullet Time into the game now that mobs move during VATS and it costs no AP to just loiter while your percentage creeps up. Seems like they've added some fancy new bells and whistles, just wish they'd considered some options with the camera and keybinds.

Also, my poking around with the ini didn't reveal anything else. Neither FO3 or FNV used ini edits for the camera, know we have some skyrim info so I may go mess around with those there to see.

idk.. that 'other' thread worries me. the 'MUST HAVE' mod list, has nudity, killing children, cheats, unlimited compainions(an army?) killable dog, etc all the things I personally couldn't give one jot about lol, makes me wonder if maybe nexus don't ahve any of the old classy modders around anymore.

I mean i don't mind 'realisim' and actually prefer it, WITH concequiences, like if you kill people, esp innocents (IE children) you should get 'evil' and be seen as an absolute douchebag, but I wouldn't put things that 'break' the idea of the game at least until ive 'finished' it. - and for me, enjoying the game almost 'needs' a proper 3rd person cameera (Its just not the same in first, even with max FOV, it seems like your 'watching' the action from the other side of a box, or viewing 'out' a monitor, rather than 'being' there. Third person, at least for me, and aside from 'sniping' (IE scope view) does this for me. (Puts me into the 'story' rather than just viewing it from some outside source)

I guess im just suprised, esp here, on these forums, that the third person camera group have been 'stomped down' rather than acknowlaged. Hell it shocks me becuase AFAIK, the CTPC mod for all three previous games (FO3, FO;NV, and skyrim) was one of the top (if not THE top) download in each section.

I whole heartedly agree. The first thing I tried to mod was the 3rd person camera by trying some settings from Skyrim's ini. These are NOT necessarily the same in Fallout 4.

[Camera]

fOverShoulderAddY=0.0000

fOverShoulderPosZ=10.0000

fOverShoulderPosX=0.0000 --------this is the setting that controls the camera offset when unarmed

fOverShoulderCombatAddY=0.0000

fOverShoulderCombatPosZ=10.0000

fOverShoulderCombatPosX=0.0000

But when I added them to both ini's in the Documents folder as well as the default ini in the game folder, it only threw my aim off, and the camera was still offset. I need to find out what ini(s) need to be modified, there are 3 of them plus a 4th called "Fallout4Custom". I'm not sure what they all do yet.

Well the only file that needs to be adjusted is the Fallout 4.ini main file. I messed around with these settings yesterday on Fallout 4 and discovered that they don't slide the camera, they swing it.

  • AddY determines forward and back position in a sliding manner
  • PosX rotates the camera around the player horizontally
  • PosZ tilts the camera around the player vertically

The game may have some new settings that need to be adjusted, if that's the case than it should be a simple ini tweak. Otherwise, it'll have to be modded. I'm going to poke around as much as I can, I'm not really a modder but I'm pretty desperate to get this one.

Do you know if there is setting to "adjust" first person weapon model position ?
