Any interest in "Non-VATS" play?

So it seems that many of the SPECIAL stats, as well as a lot of the perks and gameplay elements (criticals) revolve around VATS. I really despise VATS, I have always hated it ever since Fallout 3.

It sounds like it's going to be a pain to rebalance everything around non-VATS play. Shame really.

anyone got any ideas that could make things a bit easier on this front effort wise or for how they would re-do some of the gameplay around non-VATS users?

There could be buffs for hip-fire I guess. I also think there needs to be more guns diversity. There are perks for single-shot pistols and rifles, heavy guns, and automatic weapons, but shotguns have nothing. Just a thought.

There are buffs for hip fire under strength. Also, I remember reading somewhere that shotguns are included in rifle perks. I think shotguns are technically rifles?

I've never used VATS in a any Fallout game either. The idea of being in an adrenaline pumping situation where you have to kill them before they kill you but then interrupting that with calm consideration of who to hit first and where deflates the excitement - it never made sense to me. Still, each to his or her own and we just know that as the days pass someone is going to mod a selection of perks that bypasses most of these VAT perks.

The recent changes to VATS to make it slow motion instead of freeze frame have me playing a lot more out of VATS now, because against groups of enemies or near cars (trust me on that last one) it'll get you killed.

It's now a tool, not a crutch, and I like that. It's useful again quick or very long range targets behind cover. It should have always been that way, but before now the shooter mechanics were too poor to allow that.

No VATS here too, i would love to have "bullet time" but having the computer to aim for me, is too easy.

And i'm a total noob at fps, but still il damn awesome when YOU kill an enemy and not the VATS u.u

I'm not a big fan of VATS aside from just spoting who I am trying to kill, aka Boones spoter perk from NV, unless I am trying to kill fast moving bugs. Even then I think the only time I whould realy need it was with Cazadores. 5 raiders 3 buildings down and VATS gives me mabey 15% to hit chance, drop out and manualey drop them with 6 shots...

Did anyone use a bullettime mod in previous games? Any thougts on VATS being half or quarter real time?

You can have "bullet time" with Jet. It says it slows time, though I don't know by how much.

I never use V.A.T.S. unless it is for really fast enemies, or I want to get a critical.
