Deleted82156User
Skyrim was the same. So much content created by Oblivion modders made it's way into Skyrim. I was astounded when I first played Skyrim as I recognized sooo many mods.
onelunglee
So, if you're a game dev, it's not a terrible business strategy. Release your game even though it's buggy, semi unstable and incomplete. Make room for growth glaringly obvious. (like it being 2015 and guns vanishing upon holstering O.o) Publicly support the modding community openly and adamantly, then sit back and watch them unknowingly build you a massive idea resource pool almost entirely free of charge (not counting what it took to develop the creation tools). Not only do they finish your incomplete game, the improve upon it in virtually every way, and over the next few years, they continue to build and refine game concepts that would've cost you a fortune to develop by conventional means in-house. Time eventually comes to decided what's going in the next big release and the small print says you can cherry pick the mod pool till your hearts content. Oblivion uses this formula and becomes Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV use it and ultimately become Fallout 4. Huh. Never really considered it until seeing FO4, but then again, I didn't learn to mod until after NV came out. That's pretty dastardly if there's any truth to it. Nero1n
what do you want more of a game developer ?they release a stable game with a good engine, graphics, story, etc. and allow the community to change the game how they want to.what do you want else ? bethesda also could say "screw it, no modding,"in days where people purchase crap lile EA GAMES & COD series, you can be happy that there are still game studios left that dont force you to play their game as "they" want to.i don't get people anymore these days. only bitching and whining. Totally agree with that. There are many games out there where you cant create or change anything, but in the Fallout or TESO games you can create or change nearly everything as a modder. We should be happy that we have this option!
kintaro12
i totally agree with Enthusiast, unless we are talking about Devs like EA
CardinalFunky
I agree with Enthusiast as well. The game developers gave the us the base game and also gave us the power to create something better. Modders are great, but I would not bust down the developers. They did their part.
