squall12990 Posted April 9, 2007 Share Posted April 9, 2007 After completing all of the dark brotherhood quest I went to join the thieves guild in the waterfront district in the imperial city after asking a beggar where I go to join. I went there at midnight as instructed and waited for the guy to show up. He did with a wood elf and when I asked him about joining the thieves guild he told me that i had to wait for the argonian to show up. I did up until the point were both he and the wood elf walked away. When they left I spoke to him again and he told me "not now meet me at the (blank {name forgotten}) garden at midnight. I thought that by some oddball chance the argonian he had spoken of might have been arrested. So I did what most assassins would do...I broke into the imperial prison...and couldn't find him. I also walked around the waterworks looking for a argonian and could find one and even went to that ship tavern to see if he was there (I followed the wood elf around and saw her go there) but I didn't see one. Anyone have any idea's of what might be going on? Do you think that one of the quest I did for the night mother may have had him killed? I did think about that but the other two there at the meeting place were essential so I didn't think of it as a possibility that bethesda would prevent you from joining on guild after you got high enough in another...even though I do somewhat recall a incident like that in morrowind....but I think that might have been one of the four houses. Povuholo Posted April 9, 2007 Share Posted April 9, 2007 NPC's don't get arrested when they commit a crime, even at 1 gold they'll get attacked on sight. But since the argonian is needed for the quest he probably can't be killed. Just come back to the meeting place the next night, maybe he'll be there this time. Rhydderch Hael Posted April 9, 2007 Share Posted April 9, 2007 The Argonian in question does not get touched by the Dark Brotherhood. In fact, he's an essential NPC and thus cannot be killed. chris 07 Posted April 9, 2007 Share Posted April 9, 2007 a glitch that I found was when giving the ring to the countess I fell right through the floor the castle and then the game froze. squall12990 Posted April 9, 2007 Author Share Posted April 9, 2007 I kept at it. I did waiting sleeping and actually letting the time pass but he stil wouldn't show. I finally caved and did the console command. I got all the way up to gray fox status in the guild. It's unfortunate though, that I had to cheat. onhfkil Posted April 10, 2007 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I found a glitch. I saw Jackben, Earl of Imbel walking casually in the streets, when he took out a glass claymore and attacked a guard. He was knocked unconcious, and i decided to pickpocket him. I got the Boots of Springheel Jak, and it activated the quest. I went to the Fox, and he said nothing. Now, I got there the normal way (advancing through the quest) and I didnt find him when I got to that point. I can't advance in the questline. Why does this stuff only happpen to me?! I pickpocketed him as well...in his house and didn't find the boots. You might have to go back to jail and kill him. Just reactivate teh quest and follow the marker.
