The Master INI

I just noticed this rather large INI located in the data folder. I couldnt load any new textures unless this file was edited and not the ones in Documents folder.

Is this file new with the update? It has an absolute buttload of settings in it.

EDIT: Here are the contents of the file. Not to be confused with "Falloutperfs" folder, this "fallout.ini" is in the data folder. Again I do not know the origin of this file, whether it is part of the beta or whatever, but as stated above, it appears to override the INIs located in the my games folder. Some of the settings appear to represent higher quality options not seen in the Ultra version, however the ones I have tried crash the game (maybe the resources are not included?). Anyhow this is a HUGE file with tonnes of settings relating to everything from what I can see. Apparently the game is set to iNumThreads=4 but is able to have 32 max job threads at Ultra. For now I recommend leaving these settings alone for anything over 4 cores, however you might try upping them with a 4 core HT enabled CPU to see if you gain any FPS. I don't have a quad to test this so all I can do right now is use logic from prior experience for most of these settings. I just wish Skyrim had one of these :wink:

bCompileOnRender is an interesting setting, I wonder what happens if you separate papyrus from the frame time? If that is indeed what it does

buseSunbeams is set to 0 by default. No idea if this affects Godrays?

bUseHardDriveCache is 0 by default, some users may benefit from this being 1 as seen in Skyrim and for logical reasons I need not explain

 

These settings are as default, curious if there is problems threading the morpher and particles, but otherwise set to 1 if you feel the need.

Ok so op is likely not trolling however this file just doesn't exist in my fallout 4 folder and i see no option for beta settings for fo4 yet the file clearly exists, maybe they flagged certain accounts to get beta stuff or something.

Do all the people who have that file use the beta version of Fallout 4?

Maybe the file is there only temporarily while the version is a beta.

It's possible that the file won't be used anymore in the next regular update.

Calling me a troll eh? Known for the opposite actually.

 

Ill post the INI when i get home in 2 hours. It is in the data folder with the bsas, not in them.

 

I dont know if it is part of the beta, i did not opt for the beta but instead it just told me there was an update, i assume the beta because of the file size being 59.9mb.

 

I also wmailed Bethesda about a few things, maybe they gave it to me via steam? Lol that is farfetched but hey, nobody knows this file.

 

One setting in it crashes my game, bUseWaterHiRes which is 0 by default, 1 makes me crash loading the save.

Really? that file absolutely does not exist for me :/ why do i not have it?

 

Still not seeing it, i see no reason why you would make up an entire data folder though.

One thing though, I wonder of you can configure this INI like you would an ENB, given all the new settings and deferred rendering. Seems there is enough settings, but I don't know much about GFX settings, only things that are hardware related are my kettle of fish.

 

Remember, this is NOT the FaloutPrefs file you see in thier, this file is actually in the DATA folder and it's called Fallout.ini.

Do you have some sort of beta settings for steam? i honestly do not see this file where you say it should be, only thing that comes close is the falloutpref ini file with no other files ending in .ini existing anywhere at any level of the data folder.

 

edit: the file you posted seems to reference horse based commands and skyrim meshes within it, so if this is a test file they left behind a ton of old skyrim related stuff which while sloppy is possible given they built it from skyrim.

 

edit2:

The file also references another file in relation to control remapping here is the line below

 

sControlsRemapFile=ControlMap_Custom.txt

Does this file also exist for you? and if so what is inside?
