Want to mod, but also looking for decent fps

Hello everyone

I downloaded Fallout 3 recently and I heard about this community and the mods to make the game look amazing.

When I installed the game I went right away to mod it and the ones that this site describes: http://www.ign.com/wikis/fallout-3/PC_Mods

Buuuut, after installing them with the Fallout Mod Manager and organizing them with Loot, I noticed a very low frame rate, the game looked amazing but only had like 15 fps.

So I want to know which mods should I install to make the look and play better but keeping it fluid.

This is my laptop:

8gb RAM

i5-5200U 2.20ghz

AMD Radeon HD 8500M

Windows 8.1 64bits

Thanks for verything

Please see this: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1465357-installing-fallout-3-with-windows-78-and-xp/ at the Bethesda Softworks Website.

Also, this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/

You may have a problem getting high FPS due to your equipment falls a little short of the system requirements.

Thank you very much for your quick reply, I'll try installing one mod at a time instead of everything and then play.

Also I've heard there is a mod that let's you use more ram for the game in order to get more fps, also that is important for the texture mod.

You are referring to Large Address Aware Enabler: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6510/? This is not a mod as much as a program to allow the game to use more ram.

Read the mod page and ReadMe carefully! Do not use the program until you understand the ReadMe completely. Also, if you have any questions, you will find the answer in the comments section.

Stutter usually is when (sometimes) your fps goes from high to low (or vice-versa) constantly and many times in a row, due to some script/graphic/memory demand.
The stutter may be more or less noticeable/constant depending on how severe is the case.

There are many improvements to FO3 (stutter ini, better performance esp, texture optimizer, etc) but you must know what works with your hardware, the best way to do that is through trial and error, so whenever you install a mod that changes many things, or changes textures/graphics, do a little play and testing to see if it works for you.

A quick way to ruin your FPS is to use an ENB preset (especially if using the wrong ENB for your system).

To play a modded FO3 you either add little and safe stuff, or you install everything but must learn a lot about modding to make it work.

If you wanna go slow and safe, watch "gopher youtube video series lets play fallout 3 modded" (there are 9 videos).

Otherwise go for all or nothing but you will go nuts figuring most of the tech terms: http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Kelmych/Fallout3

(scroll down a bit and you'll see a contents panel in the right side)

Hope it helps
