Zmid
Right - a challenge. Final Fantasy series, a must buy for anyone who is into classic console RPGs at all. I would say suitable for anyone about 10+, though only due to the complexity. Getting a bit rare, but you could try any local games specialist as follows: FF1&2 doublepack as 'Final Fantasy Origins'. (new or second-hand)FF4&5 doublepack as (I think) 'Final Fantasy Chronicles' (new or second-hand)FF6 and usually playable demo of FF10 (for PS2) (new or second-hand)FF7 (usually second-hand)FF8 (usually second-hand)FF9 (sometimes new, but usually second-hand) Medal of Honor, very good FPS, obviously not a patch on PC version, but probably about the best you'd get on PS1, usually available new as doublepack of original Medal of Honor plus Medal of Honor:Underground, or sometimes on its own second-hand. Legacy Of Kain, two games I'm talking about here. First one in series - Blood Omen:Legacy of Kain - is a very old game. Old style top down RPG where you play a guy (Kain) who gets killed by vampires. A necromancer brings you back to life as a vampire and you set off to get revenge. You get sidetracked into a larger quest with the fate of the whole land resting on your shoulders. Not graphically pleasing, but the gameplay makes up for it. Rare, but sometimes you can get it second-hand, and, IMO, worth searching for. Second one - Legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver - is a sequel set a good few hundred years after. Very different style, it's a 3D adventure. This time, you play Raziel, a vampire who seriously annoys his master (Kain from the game above) by evolving wings before he does. Kain breaks his wings and casts him into a deep lake to suffer the acid sting that water has on vampires for eternity. A very ancient god saves him and, for reasons of its own, sets Raziel out to take revenge. What you don't realise until you emerge from the lake is that several hundred years have gone by while you were in there. Think Tomb Raider, but done much, much better. Usually can be gotten second-hand, sometimes new. TOCA World Touring Cars, very good driving game, rather realistic (for PS1). Large number of tracks, large number of cars, quite a few game modes from an arcade mode to a full championship with full race lengths, and you can tune your car six ways to Sunday. Fairly rare new, but can usually be got second-hand. Spyro the Dragon series, ideal for kids pressies, bright platformers, rather addictive, fairly large games, so will keep them going. Usually can be picked up new or second-hand, three games in the series. yfuadsdhjdccshj\c,hjscvj, Sorry, the above was just me collapsing after typing all that

Mojlnir
This site also contains several of the aforementioned games (Medal Of Honor) and its UK site to boot. I played Driver constantly (love driving games) as well as Tony Hawk Pro Skater (hours of concrete eating fun). As mentioned above, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and Need For Speed are all classics. Happy hunting! www.silvercom.co.uk
tmons78
I too have to agree with any of the Final Fantasy games that are out there. I will also make a small correction to some information, though I forgot who posted it. Final Fantasy Origins - FF and FF2Final Fantasy Chronicles - FF4 (FF 2 for the SNES) and Chrono TriggerFinal Fantasy Anthology - FF5 and FF6 (FF 3 for the SNES) Chronicles and Anthology are VERY hard to come by these days, so you might have to browse some websites looking for them. And for all you older gamers out there, I am also in love with some of our classic games: Frogger, Centipede, Asteroids, and the NAMCO Museum Volumes. They have the great old games from the days of the Atari 2600. They are very fun to just go back through and see how bad games used to be. Happy hunting Theta! Hopefully we've given you some good suggestions. :D
ThetaOrionis01
Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback :) I've put a few suggestions to the intendent recipient, and Medievil and Red Alert seemed to find favour....so now I'll just have to track them down. But I'll keep a list of the other recommendations too - because undoubtedly there will be xmas money to spend too.... which leads to the double joy of having to visit a shopping mall *shudder* accompanied by kids *twitch*

Your info, is (I think), how the FF series comes in the USA.
