Power armor IRL, this aint no cosplay

I didn't read the entire thread but I gotta say .... Power Armor is very possible .... except 1 thing.

In a few interviews with relevant people about how feasible Ironman suit is. They all came to 1 conclusion: power source. For Ironman to work the way he is, he must be wired to a power factory. There are many exo skeleton system (like in Japan they use in hospitals so nurses can carry their patients). And these suits can only be used for some 30 minutes before requiring to recharge. Even the consumer flying drones require use to charge 4-8 hours for some 15 minute flight time.

So unless you figure out the power situation, power armor is as good as the power source. I would love to have my smart phone go 1 month before needing to charge too. But Fallout universe has about 1 thing (2 if you count Memory Den) that is way more advanced than our reality: energy source. They are all behind us in everything else, even they got to live up to 2077 when everything went to hell. At 2016 now we have everything way more advanced than Fallout can ever dreamed of even they get to advance another 200 years without the great war. That is, except that fusion core. Smart phones last for months, cars can drive for months before needing to recharge. The explosion though is a huge draw back. Ever accidentally shot up a car in Starlight drive in? The whole entire parking lot went up as a huge fire ball when the chain explosion happens.

No offense, but. Really? You are going to make real power armor using a 3d printer, all while relying on crowdfunding to do so?

C'mon man.

someone tell Idubbbz

well thats the point man, im trying to educate people that 3d printers arent for printing novelty crap and trinkets, and the crowd funding is to help out ill be paying for alot of it out of my own pocket. but stick around i hope i can show you what is possible.

this would be true if i were trying to flip cars with this thing, but im just going to have it open and close, have some leds and have it respond the user movement. not aiming to be improving the users performance. think of it like a technical demonstration to learn how to do the technical steps.

OMG, so man people replying without reading to know what the devil they are talking about.

Good job, man, I'll be keeping my eye out for the finished set. I won't expect it to balance itself, or actually block incoming fire, as it is just a proof of concept. I also won't expect you to be using high load machinery that saps power like the Ironman movie or its abandoned military counterpart. But hey, if you wanna make it have a Headlamp, or even throw up a fake (or actual) HUD overlay on the helmet visor, that's all Cool and the Gang, too. Keep your head up & your views high. You're going to have a difficult enough time translating the game's visuals into working components without continually explaining your intentions to people that can't be bothered to read what you're doing. Maybe they should watch a video or something instead of flapping their meat together.

Sorry to go all AGRO, I just got a lot on my mind. The argument stands without my emotion, though, so I'm leaving it.

I Guess I went a little barbaric with my PA frame. I foam casted individual pieces with aluminum and I have a nice crude but decent lock and gear system for movement, heavy as all hell but I have gotten myself used to the frame weight. But this thread has really caught my interest glad I'm not only one crazy enough to make an actual PA suit.

Eh, its more advanced in many ways than us, I get what you were meaning but, you are forgetting lots of things. Currently beyond us:

-Their AI levels, esp the true AI synths, but even some of the more basic bots.

-Plasma weapons

-the stuff you mentioned

-Their cryo tech / pods

- FEV

-Laser weapons (That much power in small size without over heating, also power source but that is already covered. mainly the size to power ratio and not over heating)

-many many more i am missing :)

Also, the nuclear cars... youd think with how unstable they are in game, that the fallout apocalypse would have happened much sooner due to a massive car crash lol

If I remember correctly, capacitators are not very effective storing large amounts of power compared to their size. The most intersting thing is that they charge fast and can store high voltage power, so they're mostly used to kickstart systems.

For example a capacitator that makes a flashlight run about one hour is the size of a soda can.

How about using a power source that relies on Fuel. Like a small Diesel Engine or Gas Turbine? Fuel engines have a better power to weight ratio and you can refill you power armor without a cable^^ I think they don't use them for Malitary Purposes because of the noise.
