Fallout 4 Map Size?

I wanted to write this here because I noticed a lot of misinformation and trolling floating around the web regarding Fallout 4's map size, and as someone who is sort of a Fallout authority on Worldcell design I felt as though I could debunk a lot of this stuff.

Based upon personal observations in the game (without f##kng sprinting), I can guarantee you that the map is actually smaller than Skyrim, and believe it or not, about as equal in size to Fallout 3, not larger than Fallout 3. I know, I know; "how do I know this." OK, here's the thing, those pipboy images of the maps people have been using to compare the grids are a terrible way of doing things. When you create a worldcell you not only post coordinates to draft the ultimate corners of your plane but also type in numerical data for how the map is to be stretched in order to accommodate cell load processing from all the items inhabiting a single piece of the exterior map, with the data being shared across the entire plane. Those grids you see in the geck as mapping data don't actually represent to the maps true size. This is also why the map for the Capitol Wasteland doesn't measure up to the map for DLC The Pitt. SO STOP USING THEM BECAUSE YOU'RE WRONG!!

Knowing what I know about the size of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, and Fallout 4's maps; I can guarantee you without even looking at Fallout 4 in the creation engine that it's map data has been greatly condensed and the map itself stretched to make it appear as though the world is larger than it really is. If you want proof of this, travel between Sanctuary Hills and Conconcord (walking and time yourself), then compare it against walking from Megaton to Grayditch (walking and time yourself). Do this in straight lines from on top of their map markers in order to keep things consistent.

If you are to compare the distances between those two locations on their respective maps and measure them the same way, they would be equal distant to scale by their own maps, but Fallout 3's map is suppose to be much smaller than Fallout 4's. Therefore, if the time to travel, via distance scaled per map remains constant, then the map for Fallout 4 has clearly been scaled.

Also, hundreds of locations...

Dropping 3-4 map makers down in close proximity to pad that number is a wee bit patronizing. Beyond that, yeah... it's pretty much the same size as Fallout 3...
