First person view head bob problem.

Hello, first I apologise for any mistakes in my English.

Few days ago I decided to install Enhanced Camera mod (from Nexus). I wasn't happy with it and I decided to uninstall.

Uninstalling the mod is apparently easy, just deleting two files:

-OBSE_EnhancedCamera.dll

-OBSE_EnhancedCamera.ini

Once I deleted those two files from my OBSE folder I started my last saved game as usual. Then I noticed a very subtle head bob when my character wasn't moving at all. (more noticeable when sneaking)

The most annoying thing is that every time I look left or right the camera lifts up a little bit when I stop moving it.

The problem disappears If I sit my character on a bench.

Even though I deleted every trace of this mod, it still seems to be... partially working. :ermm:???

I'm not using Oblivion Reloaded or any other mod that alters the first person view.

Things I've tried:

-Loading an old saved game.

-Archive invalidation.

-Reinstalling OBSE.

-Unnistalling animations, poses and physics mods.

-Replacing my actual skeletons (Vipcxj's) and all files contained into Meshes\characters\_1stPerson folder by Oblivion vanilla files.

-Replacing Oblivion.ini by a backup copy.

So... I'm really lost... any help or clue will be greatly appreciated.

hmm there's a couple of solution that I know...

First you can go to oblivion.ini then search bDisableHeadTracking=0, change 0 to 1.

But this will make all character less interactive because all npc and player will have straight head doesn't care with anything at all

or.... second,

you can just change POV, just by use camera change button 'toggle' to third person and going back to first person then again to third person it should fix it already

this head bob problem I think is just appear on first load, after do the toggle camera trick usually it will go normal again...

hope that helps

Thanks for the quick reply, lubronbrons.

I've tried both and sadly the problem persists.

I suspect the problem is related with OBSE and Enhanced Camera and some script-code from this mod that still remains??.

No idea if this will work. Now that caveat's out of the way... You've followed the uninstallation instructions for LogicDragon's mod so the only thing I can think of which could remain is some data in the OBSE co-save. It sounds like you've uninstalled the DLL, loaded your save game and noticed the problem. As the save game was made with Enhanced Camera active maybe there's some Enhanced Camera-specific information in there which is still somehow managing to affect you character's viewpoint. So... make another save (with Enhanced Camera disabled) and exit the game and load that new save up. These hypothetical values in the OBSE co-save should no longer exist.

If that doesn't work all I can think of is deleting your Oblivion.ini (in your Documents folder, not Oblivion_default.ini) and starting the game up again (then re-applying any INI tweaks). Maybe there are some viewpoint values in there which need to be reset.

I don't know what else...

maybe the culprit is idle animation, because player head follow idle instruction too

I'm using vanilla meshes right now, lobronbrons, so the problem shouldn't be related to any type of mesh.

Hello Dragon32, That's exactly what I did, I made the mistake of saving the game with the mod activated. :sad:

Is there any way to access the OBSE code and remove any line related to Enhnaced Camera mod?

I already did it and the problem is still there.

If I delete my Oblivion.ini (documents folder) my game crash everytime I start a game.

Thanks for your help Dragon32 and lobronbrons.

hmm... try my preset then, I have been using enhanced camera from first,

maybe you can sovle your issue and compromise with this mod.

Yeah me too, frequently get head bob problem bug but... it's just so easy using toggle camera trick (1st view person -> 3rd view person -> 1st again)

the head bob problem is gone... here's my setting for 'OBSE_EnhancedCamera.ini'

[Main]
bEnableFirstPersonBody=1
bEnableHeadBob=0
bVisibleArmsWeaponSheathed=1
bHideShieldWeaponSheathed=1
bFirstPersonSitting=1
bFirstPersonKnockout=1
bFirstPersonDeath=1
bFirstPersonModAnim=1
bFirstPersonAnimCameraRotation=1
bPreventChaseCamDistanceReset=1
fVanityModeForceDefaultOverride=300.0
fSittingMaxLookingDownOverride=70.0
fMountedMaxLookingDownOverride=70.0
fCameraPosX=0.0
fCameraPosY=14.0
fCameraPosZ=16.0
fHorseMountCameraPosY=6.0
fVampireFeedCameraPosY=6.0
fCameraZOffset=12.0
fVampireFeedXYOffset=-16.0
fVampireFeedZOffset=10.0
bEnableHeadFirstPerson=0
bHorseFirstPersonBody=1
bUseThirdPersonArms=0
bRotateThirdPersonArms=0

Not that I know of.

That's not right. A new one should be created. Delete Oblivion.ini. Start the Oblivion launcher and set resolution etc. Then launch game and set other options in game. Edited by Dragon32

@Dragon32

maybe he is using Darn UI series, so when newly created ini from Oblivion doesn't recognize the font loaded

I happen to have this ctd problem when deleting ini without edit the last font used, must be the same with Darn UI

it will happen to in Darnified UI or DarnUI Dark

certainly crash on loading screen after choose new game or load savegame

@Lubronbrons

Exactly, I'm using DarnUI Dark.

I'll give a try to Enhanced Camera again, this time using your preset, thank you. :wink:

The head bobbing is almost unnoticeable, like if you put a floating camera in a very quiet pool. I could live with that.

The worst part of this bug is the POV changing its heigh when I turn left/right the camera in first person.

I've tried to represent my problem:

When I look left/right the POV comes down a little, when I stop rotating the camera, the POV recovers its position.
