So I'm 'the other guy', huh?

I have no idea where toan450 - the guy who started this mod in the first place - or chris_07 are, so in the meantime I'm taking up work on the project alongside my Morrowind Imperial Legion-themed plugin, which is also titled Ordo Legionis. I'm not as familiar with Oblivion's CS as I am with Morrowind's CS though (and I'm not an expert at modding Morrowind either), so I'm having some difficulty. I do however have things planned out, and once I can puzzle out how to work the CS I should be able to get everything but the environmental modding and meshes/textures done.

To keep people interested, here's some of the things toan, chris and I had planned for the mod, as well as some additions of my own:

1: A large, branching questline, divided into three parts. The first part can be started and completed at any time, and is simply a short "boot camp" series of quests that allows the player to enlist in the Imperial Legion, complete a series of training quests, and receive an official commission, which includes being issued a full set of Legion armor and a steel weapon.

The second part can only be begun after the player has progressed through the main quest to the point of closing the Oblivion gate at Kvatch and then aiding the Kvatch Guard in retaking the city. A series of quests (most of which were envisioned by toan) will allow the player to rise to the rank of Champion, receiving a special armored Legion Warhorse as a reward, as well as the ability to command a group of three Legionnaires to follow you into battle.

The third (and final) part of the questline can only be begun after the player has completed Light the Dragonfires and, thus, the entirety of the main questline. While this may be troublesome for some players, it'll be necessary due to the nature of the plot for the final questline. I won't spoil everything, but I will say that a civil war will be involved. There will be at least two branches to the final portion of the quest, including two very different endings that will greatly change the face of Cyrodiil.

2: Several of the abandoned forts scattered throughout Cyrodiil will be occupied and restored by Imperial Legion forces, with Legionnaires patrolling the area around these forts regularly. It is likely that the player will eventually be given control of a fort during the questline as well.

3: A set of Legion Templar armor, which will be based on the Imperial Watch armor, will be awarded to the player upon advancement to Knight Bachelor. The Imperial Dragon armor will also receive some buffs to make it more usable, and will be recognized as a Legion uniform after advancement to the rank of Knight Errant. The Lord's Mail and Chrysamere will likely make appearances as well, though whether or not the player can acquire them depends on their actions in the final part of the questline.

4: Several smaller quests unrelated to the mod's major questline will be made available to the player upon advancement to the rank of Champion. One example would be an addition to the Hackdirt questline, where after rescuing Dar-Ma from The Brethren, the player would be able to report the incident to his/her commanding officer, then lead a Legion raid on Hackdirt to defeat The Brethren, culminating in a fight with the Deep Ones.

I have some other things planned, but the above's more than enough to keep a good sized team working for quite some time. The plan is to tackle the easier portion of the mod - the first two parts of the questline and the various subquests - first, and then do the final part of the questline, which will be a much larger undertaking, after everything else is set up.

Some assistance I could really use would be someone to create the mesh and textures for the Legion Warhorse armor, which will be added onto all ingame Legion Horses as well as the player's Legion Warhorse. Additionally, I would like some help in modding the various Legion Forts around Cyrodiil, including the Legion Headquarters (which, to avoid conflicts with vanilla Oblivion, will likely be moved out of the Imperial City Prison District). I'm going to try to tackle most of everything else by myself, because I don't want to be the kind of modder who starts a big project and then expects everyone else to finish it for him, though I'll be sure to ask for advice if I run into a snag and can't figure it out by myself. Right now I'm reading Logam's Guide to Modding to familiarize myself with the CS more, and it is made of win.

At any rate, discuss.

Edit: Just so that no one gets the wrong idea, I'm not planning on trying to squeeze all of the above into version 0.1 or anything. The initial release of Ordo Legionis will include just the first stage of the questline - currently titled "Basic" - and allow the player to join the Legion, get the uniform, and so on. The other stuff will come later, either after I figure out how to work the CS better or a suitable team is gathered to take up my slack.
