Though until then you can just do "player.addperk (perknumber)" You can find the perk numbers here: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_perks
Roarinzero
Well i tested experience gain , and skill points .... it just feels like one isnt enough , 2 would still feel that way , just not as much , 3 is a perfect number cause the amount of skill points you need is pretty outlandish , you start with so little for your special stats , combine that with as little exp gain you get doin stuff , and if just feels slow making any progress
grasshopper111
Well if i had my way it would be one perk point every other level. I currently have three unspent points in my game and just never feel compelled to use them every time i level up. So three would be utterly ridiculous. You may as well cheat and give yourself all the damn perks before you start.

neonie
I can see the point here. Three actually does make sense: One point for S.P.E.C.I.A.L. One point for game-play, or "In the Field" perks. One point for supplementary perks like settlement building or lock picking/hacking. But then this also goes back to my whole "The entire perk system needs to be reworked". Becuase if you went down this route, you would want a way to make sure the point only got spent on what it was supposed to. So like a "S.P.E.C.I.A.L." perk can ONLY be spent on putting points towards your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
CaptainPatch
IMHO I think that the current situation, one point per level, is on the verge between reasonable and becoming too overpowered. I mean, for example, if a player invested in ONLY SPECIAL points, in just 42 levels he would be absolutely perfect in every human measurement category represented by SPECIAL. That is, godlike perfection. Double the points and in 42 levels he would be awesomely godlike. Triple the points.... If the idea is to be unbeatable, why not just use console commands to max out everything, SPECIAL + all perks, at the game start? Total God Mode. As is, I think the game forces the player to make some really serious Guns versus Butter decisions. Am I better off upping my Strength to carry more loot? Or should I improve Lockpicking in order to access more loot in locked containers? Do I want to immerse myself in settlement building? Then I'm going to NEED Local Leader early on. Life is all about choices made, priorities selected. And those decisions come with consequences. Minimize the consequences and you really aren't "living the life". All that does is reduce the time required to get there, while preserving the overall feeling of progress. Not everyone has time to tank 400 hours into the game to check out 10 different character builds.

Not everyone has time to tank 400 hours into the game to check out 10 different character builds.Bethesda actually did the reverse of this with FO3: started with a low level cap that made it impossible to max everything. But then with each DLC released, the level cap was raised. Probably they will be adding quite a few more Perks to salivate over with each DLC, making for a longer period of Guns Versus Butter decision-making before Absolute Perfection approaches. Given that we start with a minimum number of SPECIAL points -- @28? Something like that -- I wouldn't mind if they set it so that there would be an absolute max of SPECIAL points that would be somewhat less than the 70 point max. 56 maybe. Some Attributes would hit 10, but not all of them.
