Lets Talk about Legendary Mobs and Their drops

(Might be a little ranty Sorry xD )

 

 

So I guess you all know by now, Legendary Enemys are a thing now, rare (or not so it seems) spawns of Variants that have a 100% chance to drop A Legendary weapon/Piece of Armour with an Effect.

 

Now I do Like this to an extent, But i feel like I Almost Devalues the Placed, Unique weapons and Armour Some what

 

Lets take The Furious Power fist for instance

 

A 100% drop from Swan, an Enemy I'm sure Many just stumbled upon

 

Each hit puts damage onto the Next hit

 

Its a good Weapon.... But why would i care.. I mean I can just Go and Save reload a Legendary enemy to get A weapon With the same effect Thats Many times better right?

 

I dont know about you, but all the Placed "Uniques" are just kinda..well....bad You can Out Do all of them simply by RNG from a Random legendary Enemy.

 

Unique Gauss rifle that does 50% extra limb damage, Nah RNG Gauss Rifle that Shoots an additional Projectile, Infinite Ammo Laser Pistol (draws from ammo pool) nah RNG Infinite ammo Missile launcher, You see what I mean?

 

Maybe in the future we can get a Mod that Removes legendary Enemys, And Places one item of each Effect around the Wastes, instead of the best method being Kill reload kill reload

 

 

 

What do You think? Does this devalue the Standard Placed Unique weapons Any?

The Furious Power fist is not a good example.

 

It an unarmed weapon, so if you want another power fist, you have to wait for an unarmed spawn. Those are very, very rare. Then you have to save and reload for a completely random enchantment. And it may not be a power fist type/tier, and may be an armor. I played to much monster hunter to not want to feel that again.

 

Yes, you will get a better weapon. Yes, it easier to kill let say a gunner than swan. But it an unarmed weapon, not a shotgun, a combat rifle, an institute rifle, sniper gun etc. But it a fist weapon for mid-game+, and it right there.

I will still judge you for not getting deathclaws claws weapon though.

 

And with that out of the way.

 

Placed Uniques are there for those who don't wish to farm and explorers. If you wish to farm for the best gear, farm and good luck! But I thank Beth for giving other options for those who don't wish to farm for hours on end, not power hungry and okay with not end-game damage. It much better than forcing the player into the smithing and enchanting tree in Skyrim to make the even good gear.

 

Also there is two types of "Uniques" in this game:

 

A) A normal model with common enchantment, but it fixed. The Furious Power fist, the terrible shotgun ( the name is french in fo4.) the Unique Gauss rifle. Those are pretty much fixed legendary weapons, and one can easily find others via looting legendary spawns.

 

B) Unique models and ability/enchantment and only ones in the game to have such characterization: deathclaw claws, junk jet, railway rifle, cryo-something-blaster? The true unique weapons.

 

Which one of the two are we talking about?

I have this feeling that Legendary weapons, with their apparent RNG-based stats, are simply the introduction of grind mechanics into a solo RPG. Once you know that you can find a (fill in the blank favorite weapon type) of (fill in the blank extremely OP legendary weapon bonus), you're gonna want that. You'll kill Legendary enemies anticipating that drop, even though the odds of it appearing aren't all that great.

 

I think this is to aid in extending the campaign goals of players bent on maximizing their characters. Not sure how happy I am with that notion. ='[.]'=

Some players LOVE grinding/farming for the best gear. That kind of the thing has it charm for them and let face it, other games made it the norm for them (borderlands, diablo, monster hunter 4u, pokemon etc). Add fallout 4 crafting system that allows for personal mods that suits the needs of the pc and you get happy grinders/farmers.

I guess The Furious Powerfist was a Bad Starting point, My bad. I mean the Unique Variants of Already established Weapons (also Deathclaw Gauntlet is not exactly a unique Variant you find them on enemies Occasionally)

 

Better example is the Limitless potential Laser Pistol, Non of the unique Placed items have unique Textures from what i've seen. The guns Pretty much Useless. if you can just Fine a Gun with the same effect on a random legendary spawn...what make sit unique is that it should be the only one of its kind... And i can see what your saying, but it could've been implemented better Imo

 

The crafting system is Basically just a Modding system moved into a separate interface and Expanded into armour aswell.

 

We have Alot of named enemies in FO4...How many of these named Enemies actually drop weapons unique to them? only a few.And there not even that good. You can get better with the powers of RNG this is what i'm getting at, Its a fallout game, You should have to Find a Spacial, Powerful gun after doing a Quest (only Seen done with the righteous authority and a few others) or Solving a Puzzle, Or clearing a hard Area and Killing the boss, Not "lemme just save and reload if i dont get the thing i Want from this completely random source"

No one said that they are Unique as far as I know.

I agree, but legendary is more personal. While others have fixed enchantment/ability, and finding one that is what you need after a lot of farming is harder that all of the above.

I like it too, but I agree it needs more polishing and tweaks. I think it will work with games that has more enemy types like TES, not fo4:

The dawn guard= vampire slaying gear.

Vampire=better at night.

Argonian=better in water/rain, disease.

Dunmer=fire oriented gear.

Oh a TES game would Definitely benefit More from a system like this In my opinion, Since Magic and enchantments are a common place and specialised gear would be More believable

 

Tell you what I'm just gonna call these items what they are, They're enchanted items xD

 

Maybe in the future we'll get a mod that Stops Legendarys spawn and Places one Of each "Enchanted" Variant around the wastes, That art already Available as Placed "enchanted" items

 

I guess it does't matter to much, But i'd just like to put in more work to get these items, Go through a cave, clear it out kil la "Boss" get a unique item Kinda thing.

Mind numbingly so. I can't even stand doing it for the collectable figures in lunch-boxes.

 

If you want to cheese the system, that's fine. But that doesn't render a 'more powerful loot' mechanic obsolete. It's in the same category as Improving gear in Skyrim. Just because you can improve an Iron Dagger to to 10,000% the damage of a Daedric Greatsword doesn't make the basic scaling irrelevant. Because, frankly, that's abusing the mechanics.
