poopgoblin
Honestly, Vagrant0, i don't believe that the war is for securing oil rights. Iraq DID have WMDs, and was a threat to the U.S. Now, it's the place where U.S. AND Iraqi forces are battling terrorists. If we pull out now, they WILL follow us home. I'd rather have U.S. soldiers, the most capable fighting men in the world, out there fighting and occasionally dying, than 3,000 innoccent civilians being killed in one day. The media is very much biased and only reports something bad happening there. In actuality, the Iraqi people love us. We saved them from a horrible dictatorship where Hussein was torturing his people for no good reason. Also, if we manage to successfully make Iraq a democracy, then we will have all the more advantage to making the rest of the Middle East a democracy as well. Then, maybe, it will actually be a bit more peaceful there.
Vagrant0
Seriously, stop watching FOX News. I really can't tell if you're joking, or if you actually believe what you just said. Iraq DID have WMDs, and was a threat to the U.SEvidence? In actuality, the Iraqi people love us.No, even the small portion that was previously oppressed wants us gone. Show me one image of a happy Iraqi that wasn't shot over a year ago. Now, it's the place where U.S. AND Iraqi forces are battling terrorists. If we pull out now, they WILL follow us home. While yes, I agree on this point, we should still maintain a presence there until the area becomes more stable and people have some basic freedoms, we entered the war based on very bad information that was spoonfed to the public. We were lied to, the millitary hasn't gotten the support it needs, and trying to tell them to abandon everything that was done because of politics just makes those lives that have been lost meaningless. Second, Saddam used chemical weapons against the Kurds in 1988 and then had them moved to Syria before the invasion. Personally, i trust Georges Sada , a man who has talked to Saddam more than i do Michael Moore. As for the Iraqi people not wanting us there, take it from a man who has been to Iraq and has first hand expierence. PaulEmil
Aaah. Politics. Nothing like politics to start a flamewar. This isnt a topic about the war in Iraq. This is a topic to laugh at 'Dubya himself, and to post Bushisms. Here's a recent funny from the Guardian, by the cartoonist Steve Bell on Blair and Bush's meeting on Iraq See? Bush is the chimp and blair is his poodle!
Ginji
See, Paul knows what this topic is really about (The clue is the bit saying 'Mock him') Bushissum:"There are jobs Americans aren't doing. ... If you've got a chicken factory, a chicken-plucking factory, or whatever you call them, you know what I'm talking about." --George W. Bush. Tipp City, Ohio, April 19, 2007 And I agree with vagrant anyway, if Saddam did have WMDs, where the hell were they? They were never found, even after the 'successful' invasion. The site itself is obviously partisan. Then there's the whole fact that it's well over a year old, but nobody has done anything, even if true means that the war wasn't about WMD, as I had suggested. Peregrine
The population of the US is nearly 300 million, including many of the best educated, most talented, most resourceful, humane people on earth. By almost any measure of civilised attainment, from Nobel prize-counts on down, the US leads the world by miles. You would think that a country with such resources, and such a field of talent, would be able to elect a leader of the highest quality. Yet, what has happened? At the end of all the primaries and party caucuses, the speeches and the televised debates, after a year or more of non-stop electioneering bustle, who, out of that entire population of 300 million, emerges at the top of the heap? George Bush. -The almighty Richard Dawkins But really, the whole "Bushisms" thing is a bit silly. Speaking problems are hardly a fatal flaw in a leader, and are a trivial concern compared to the leader's policies. There are plenty of perfectly good reasons to attack the Bush administration, reducing them to "lol, bush = stupid" just gets in the way of real discussion.
