Skyrim Racisism Sucks

The Nords are traditional, conservative, and maybe a little bit wary of outside cultures....but to say they're all a bunch of racists is largely unsupported.

Sure, there are racist Nords within Skyrim, but there are also racists among the other races Tamriel.

Dunmer enslvaing Argonians, Altmer attitude towards pretty much all the other races, anyone remember?

I think anyone who sees rampant racism in the Stormcloaks or Nordic society as a whole is looking for a self-fulfilling prophesy....they're seeing what they want to see, not necessarily what is supported on the ground.

As other players have pointed out, and even NPC's in game, Nords value hard work, honor, and contribution to the community...if you are contributing and productive member of the Nordic community, you can be considered a true Nord, regardless of your race. Why else would the Companions, the traditional warrior caste and bodyguards of the original rulers of Skyrim, allow non-Nords into their ranks? Why else are so many non-Nords allowed to live and work within pretty much every city and hold of Skyrim?

Yes, but Morrowind (the place, not the game) is pretty racist to beastkin, as well. Go to Solstheim.

the people of Morrowind (the game takes place here so adding a statement of different subjects is pointless) are racist towards anyone who isnt dunmer in general.

Ah guys, Nords are not racist per say.

If you heard what most nords say, they don't like dunmer because they have no jobs. the Grey quarter was a better place before they trashed it. The book dunmer in Skyrim (?) the writer praised the ones in Riften since they do work and pointed that the dunmer of windhelm should start working.

I've read the book, and it says no such thing. The Nords are as racist as other races are*. Hell, the only non-xenophobic culture is that of Cyrodiil, and even then you can get a few sparks going on.

Also, most Dunmer work, they just don't join the Stormcloaks. Not sure why they would, either.

*Not buying from non-nord merchants? Demanding lower prices from "provincials"(though the word usage is wrong, especially when a peasant utters them)? Skyrim belongs to the nords? Why don't you run so we can stab you in the back? Not allowing cats into the cities.

it should also be mentioned that the racism in Skyrim on the Nords part is somewhat reasonable when it comes to Khajiit and Dunmer as the former are often thieves and drug dealers and the later are refugees from Morrowind. the case against the Khajiit is very reasonable and true the one involving the Dunmer is that Skyrim has a lot of issues as it is and the Dunmer are now moving in because their home was wiped off the face of Tamriel. it's just a case of the Nords not having the space or money to handle them and the racist not being kept in line by the rulers due to the ongoing war that has them distracted.

That's exactly what I'm saying....

yes and in turn were the one who brought it up.

the Dunmer are in the way in Skyrim as there isnt really anywhere to put them and literally no one has the resources to do anything for them. they are also unwilling to help in the current issues at hand and as such are only a drain on the economy. whether or not this is true is debatable but it does leave a very reasonable conflict for the parties involved. both sides have a very good point in their stance. the Dunmer just lost their home land and are displaced they dont want to fight someone elses war when they are still trying to figure out what to do next. the Nords on the other hand sees a waste of space and resources that they need to supply the ongoing conflict.

in the end the Nords actually are right purely because of their heritage. if the Dunmer stepped up and sided with either party (pro-Imp or Stormcloak) and said party won they would actually help the Dunmer and welcome them as friends as Nords are known for this type of honor system, but as i said the Dunmer are in a difficult situation that is very reasonable and easy to understand.
