DoomFire33
I've been trying to get settlers to get into power armor, but have had very little success. I've tried adding the power armor frame to their inventory and equiping it to them, I've also tried putting it near them and spawning enemies near them but neither has worked... I was wondering if anyone had any idea about how one might get their settlers in Power Armor? I've been searching for a console command that could help me, like, something that forces the NPC to interact with something. But I can't find anything... Any help would be greatly appriciated. DoomFire33
I DID IT. ALRIGHT. SO. What you can do is set the command state of the settler by using the command "setcommandstate 1" which will allow you to control the settler exactly as you would your companions. Then you just need to tell them to get into the power armor. I don't know if this might cause any issues, but it has seemed to have worked. So just click on the settler and type... setcommandstate 1 Tell them to get in the Power Armor and press tab to turn off command mode. Reddmann
Nope easier way, put power armor next to gate hit the alarm and they will jump in it automatically. I know this works because i have 10 power suits, accidently left one near a gate, my settlement got attacked and one of my settlers jumped in the suit, it takes them a while to leave the suit too. PolecatEZ
I did the setcommandstate thing and it works beautifully...except they take off the helmet. The only "talk" interaction I have with them is for them to automatically exit the suit. Soooo...how do I get a helmet on them? I tried to pickpocket it on to them, but couldn't make them equip it. Update - Duh. If you take off all their headgear (glasses and bandanas also) then they'll use the suit helmet when they get in. Update 2 - New issue (falls into "Bug or Feature?" category) - Settlers put in suits will no longer patrol around, but will stand there statically. Their guard stations are still manned and contribute to defense rating, but they only go and stand where you tell them. I just put two of them watching the castle gates and they haven't moved except to look around. Edited December 8, 2015 by PolecatEZ

I haven't been able to get this to work. But during raids, none of my guards would ever get in power armor, I also made a little thing where I spawned a mirelurk on the other side of some power armor to them and they would still ignore the power armor (I did manage to get one guy to do it, but it's still far too inconsistent). So far this is the only method that has worked for me... I did the setcommandstate thing and it works beautifully...except they take off the helmet. Yeah, if you sneak behind them and quick save, you can just keep trying to pickpocket them until you get the fusion core and they'll get out. Unfortunately it seems that no matter what way you put them in the power armor, they wont patrol at all. I managed to get one guy in by pitting him against enemies but he just did the same thing as everyone else does when you command them into the power armor. I can't really think of any way to fix it. :/ Edited December 8, 2015 by DoomFire33
McC1oud
Don't ya just command them to the suit in the construction menu commands?
DoomFire33
Don't ya just command them to the suit in the construction menu commands? Unfortunately you can't use the construction menu to command settlers into Power Armor. I thought you could do that at first as well, but after trying it, it turns out you can't...It would really make sense if you could do that though. PolecatEZ
The "SetCommandState 1" console command will get them in (take off all their headgear first, and make sure they have exactly the gear you want for them). Simply talking to them after will get them out. BUT - when in they won't patrol around, they just stand there. If you give them a job other than "guard", "provisioner", or "cannoneer", they'll get out to go to sleep and not get back in until you tell them.
