T-60 vs T-51b Powerarmor - lore.

Can't find a sufficient regarding this issue, lore wise should the t-60 be better or different?

If it's better than why and how rare should it be?

From what I can tell, the major front with China was on the west side of the U.S and the best powerarmor suits were distributed there. We also have the hardened t-51b suits and improved types of t-51b that are more in tone with the enclave powerarmor following fallout 3.

What do you guys think?

How good and common should the t-60 really be?

A plausible explanation, is that it was developed in the eastern and was distributed to the most elite units only, like those guarding the vaults in the first stages. The reason why brotherhood of steel have an abundance of t-60 is because they raided the factory where these suits were manufactured.

There doesn't appear to be any sufficient reason for the T-60 power armour to be in the game aside from Bethesda saying at an early development meeting:

"Hey lets make up a new model of power armour that completely ignores the previous game lore - the fans are gonna love that! Amiritre or what?"

There was the Hellfire Power Armour that the BoS would have captured from the Enclave in FO3 but that hasn't come across for some inexplicable reason yet there seem to be plenty of the X1 or Enclave power armour suits just scattered about the Commonwealth.

Meh, its a Bethesda game and as such logic and consistency don't rate too high with them.

What would you suggest be the most appropriate treatment towards the different power armor capabilities if we wanted to make a lore friendly version, and how accepted will it be?

Maybe t52 vs t60 shouldn't be about a clear winner, but rather different capabilities.

I think you are on the right track here erezike.

We know that T-45d and T-51b were deployed by the US army in the war against China.

We also know that the Enclave made their own more advanced power armour such as the X01, the Tesla power armour [Mk's I & II] and the Hellfire power armour. So Somehow the BoS seemed to have gotten their hands on a version that was never deployed anywhere else but the eastern US. Perhaps they found an undamaged/unlooted military base or depot that had hundreds of suits ready to be deployed but WWIII broke out and as such, remained in storage until 2280 something.

I actually expected at least some senior Brotherhood of Steel members to be wearing T-60 in FO3 and FO4. "The Citadel" group of the Brotherhood of Steel originated from the West Coast long ago and T-60 was very much a regular thing the Brotherhood used. Hell, it was the ONLY Power Armor the Brotherhood generally used in FO1 and 2. There were some special versions but it was always T-60 at its core. It was a mistake, IMO, for Bethesda to not have at least some members of the BOS wearing T-60 in FO3 and 4.

Previous members of the brotherhood usually wore t52, Fallout 3 brought us the t45d,

They must have gotten the T60 between fallout 3 and fallout 4. They must have gotten the numerous T-60 armors from one of the postwar military bases, or bunkers.

We know the war didn't end right have the bombings, and it's possible the west coast was bombed harder than the east coast or the midwest.

Well, Van Burren was supposed to introduce the Athena power armour, developed by Poseidon energy and supposed to be superior to any pre-war power armour. Though conspicuously it doesn't say superior to advanced power armour, aka X-01.

Since Van Burren WAS a Black Isle project, I choose to believe that T-60 is basically a completed Athena project. Lore problem solved :p

i still dont understand why they added so many power armors to the game even worse i was able to get mine WAY WAY before i even meant the Min man. with a solider layout out side of it..

but still i find it odd how OVER plentiful the armors where in this game to to the point you find them still in-caged when (if you where me. i would of gotten into one of in-caged power armors if it means blasting out the wired gate door. (they say the F-cores are rare i find they are NOT i find them every where to the point venders sells them..

Well, true, if you go exploring a bit, you can find the one to the east of Sanctuary without even having to blast or unlock anything. It's just standing out in the open.

I guess I haven't really paid that much attention to them, from a gameplay perspective, since I'm mostly a stealth player and you can't bloody sneak in a thumping and creaking mech. So I just have a bunch of PAs around that don't do anything for me most of the time. And the rest I only wear it because it's some special occasion, like taking down the Institute with the BOS, and I feel like I have to be properly dressed for the occasion ;)

i found the inv weight out of date the way they want you to gather everything for crafting someone one way or another.. xD
