Zooee
Greetings, knowledgeable Fallout 3 community. As the title of this topic implies, I keep experiencing moments where the game just drops to 0 fps for the blink of an eye. It's especially jarring when I turn around and it happens. What I'm curious to find out is whether one or more of my mods are responsible because they access my pretty horrendously slow hard drive on a frequent basis - a likely cause. So if any of you are aware of any mod(s) in this load order that are notorious for causing stutter or hdd problems, or if there might be a completely different reason for the sharp drops in fps, please let me know~ http://i.imgur.com/4C2P3W9.png In comparison, by the way, my copy of New Vegas is loaded with a good twenty more mods and runs absolutely flawlessly, but maybe that's a testament to better optimization. Obvious edit:Something else that might be the cause is that I used this 4 gb enabler first, then applied this one from the Nexus later. Might have been a bad idea to use both on the same exe :,3 Edited December 16, 2015 by Zooee
MotoSxorpio
Zero fps...like you measured that? Can I see screenshots, of @ zero fps...? EDIT: I apologize. Please explain your issue with extreme variance in framerate in detail, when it happens (I turn my toon with the joystick/mouse and while turning I loose all framerate). Most things can be fixed with some INI editing, however, if your machine does not meet or match and break the recommended hardware setup, you may be faced with a never ending fight for a solution. Zooee
It's just a different way of saying "the screen froze for a moment".
Zooee
Double post, hoy~ Please explain your issue with extreme variance in framerate in detail, when it happens (I turn my toon with the joystick/mouse and while turning I loose all framerate). Most things can be fixed with some INI editing, however, if your machine does not meet or match and break the recommended hardware setup, you may be faced with a never ending fight for a solution. Have my terrible specs then: Core i3-3120M 2.5GHzGeForce GT 720M4 GB DDR3 RAM It's rather inconsistent to say the least. I can go through a portion of the metro and kill a bunch of raiders without getting any lag spikes. Some other time I frantically go up and down stairs defending myself against Chinese fellas and the lag spikes happen twice a minute or so. It does happen outdoors most prominently, maybe because cells are getting loaded. Imagine this "0 fps hue" like so: You turn around, the screen gets stuck, ~0.2 seconds pass and you have turned around, already looking behind yourself. And in case you missed it: Obvious edit:Something else that might be the cause is that I used this 4 gb enabler first, then applied this one from the Nexus later. MotoSxorpio
i3...what is that a quad core? also, you should only use 4gb to trust, I used and still use NTcore to give LA addressing to applications that might need it as to how I use them. As long as you use the NT core method while STEam is not running, you should get the right result. as for any other exe that does it for you...you are on your own for those. You already know the way to do it, you got NTCore....
Zooee
It's a dual core. As for the silly 4 GB thing, the lag spikes existed before I used that Large Address Enabler from the Nexus. I just brought that up to confirm that I should verify the game cache on Steam to get a clean Fallout3.exe and then, like, not modify it twice x3
M48A5
You need to get your load list sorted correctly. I suggest you go back to the mod pages and read them and adjust you load list. You should also read your load list and remove the conflicting plugins. As for the lag, it is something you will have to live with. Your integrated graphics chip cannot handle the load. The game was not designed to be run on anything less then a desktop computer.
Zooee
Sure makes you wish Obsidian were responsible for Fallout 4 given how impeccably well New Vegas runs on my crud rig. Back to the load order then. Edited December 16, 2015 by Zooee
