I would like to see a fraction based on a bunch of Dork/Nerds who survived the apocalypse! HEY I admit i'm a dork I like sci-fi, science, fantasy, and stuff like that. But I think it would be slightly entertaining if there was a group of kid/guys who know all things dork/nerish and started a little group. They would hack together old robots and machines or even dress in slightly....fantasy attire. Even the robots would say "MAGIC MISSLE" When it shoots lasers...I dunno this kind of silly idea just makes me laugh. *protectron voice* I SHALL DESTROY YOU....EVIL....ORC.

Yea yea I'm a loser..still tell me I'm the only one who thinks this slightly funny.

OK yes this might make a better...small encounter with maybe a little 'Fellowship Keep' Or "Helm's Deep" (just a few houses all fortified up)

Things like this would've added a lot of character and charm to the game. Could be a town split between this clans of dorks and 50's style purists a la what covenant pretends to be, and you choose the towns fate. Rewarded with a new protectron personality type and cosplay-like armor.

One idea that I had for the Gunners was a mercenary war between them and Talon Company.

OH YEAH! TALON COMPANY!

My thought: Why is it all the Minutemen quests involve fighting off those raiders etcetc?

Yeah, it'd be really nice to see some real mercenary options here. Early on I listen to Garvey talking about how the minutemen were about doing good, and they lost sight of that goal along the way.

Would be super neat to have opportunities to derail from this goal again, making deals with individual raider tribes/groups to get them to leave settlements alone. Extending that intimidate-to-pacify function to get some raider nests to work with you long-term. Mafia-style protection rackets. Preston Garvey realizes too late that he is not in a position to stop you doing as you please with the Minutemen faction. You outrank everyone there and likely out-gun them. The Minutemen rely on you for safety and it becomes a sticking point where they don't like your morals but they can't afford to make it on their own. Maybe you lose a few people like Preston. Maybe you gain others who like your aggressive style of co-operation. Assimilate enough violent jerks out there in the wasteland and you essentially run it. You're still uniting the wasteland, in ...a way. Renegade karma points all the way.

Ultimately, you could get enough deals going under the table with the Gunners or other normally-hostile group (lol, Raider Scum). It's directly funding your settlement expansions, though caravans tend to go missing in favour of your 'scavenging' parties. You might find yourself parting with a lot of chems to sweeten the pot for these sellout jerks. The spice must flow, everybody has a price.

Talon company's territory doesn't extend this far if I recall? Perhaps the Commonwealth is a mess of junky little gangs and a vague Institute threat they haven't been interested in approaching. But you're a faction doing what they do, only louder. Massive gang war ensues. Could get different privileges or bonuses depending on just which gang you get to side with you - maybe you sell out to the Talon mercs and ditch the title of General. Let them run the show in exchange for easy immunity. Maybe a lot of wastelanders hate you but a lot of raider settlements become Talon ones, and they're ...respectful of the deal you cut. Let them keep the Commonwealth in a state of pure anarchy if they like. You'll live rich.

Maybe you agree to sell out to them, but take out their own leader in a nasty double-cross rife with coercing that leader's right-hand man/woman. Get yourself a new title as Kingpin of Boston or something insane.

Maybe you slowly twist the Minutemen into a slaver faction, and wind up earning the ire of the Railroad for reasons besides getting involved with the Institute. Maybe there's an interesting little quest tie-in where one of the slaves you capture turns out to be a synth, and that's what tips things off with the Railroad's involvement. Still independent from your mainquest activities, of course.

Can you imagine? You could work that perk that lets you establish supply lines between settlements, and use it to run slaves to add needed manpower to outposts. Sometimes they'd escape and you'd have to decide whether to fight them, recapture them, or cut your losses. Not sure if people irl would take issue with giving this kind of function to the player, but it wouldn't be outside the game's potential canon. Maybe Garvey reaches out to those slaves, and those who left your faction on moral grounds to regroup, and you have to deal with him and his new faction - which would essentially be the 'real' minutemen at this point, as you've become something more like Paradise Falls through your underhanded expansion approach.

End of these questlines would completely revamp who is and isn't hostile, changing the gameplay experience quite a bit. Quests could involve killing people as always, but more options to death-threat people into your sick mafia, bribing. I want more options where I can offer caps to get others to do things for me, instead of the usual 'quest reward' setup.

Additionally, if the Children of Atom are not already technically a 'faction' buried somewhere ingame, I would like to see that as a cult option as well. If I'm not interested in summoning Cthulhu, I'd love the opportunity to doom a LOT of people under the greatness of the split atom. Maybe I want to do something with my mininukes besides launching them at deathclaws. A questline to construct a really big nuke? A means of harnessing radstorms for the cause? Sadly I have not gotten far enough into the game to know if their inclusion goes beyond a mention in Piper's dialogue.
