Dachindae
I can't seem to find any tutorial for using the Nifskope alpha. All I'm trying to do is convert the mesh to an .obj file so I can use it in Quixel, but I can't figure out how to find the freakin' texture to put into nifskope and then export the texture and mesh. I can export the mesh fine, but it needs the texture for quixel. No video tutorials have been released yet and I've never used Nifskope before. I can load the mesh, I'm just having a really difficult time trying to find how to load in the texture. Sorry for the n00b question, I'm just starting out. KazFoxsen
The texture will be in one of the ba2 files under Fallout 4's Data folder. I was able to extract meshes and textures from those with the Bethesda Archive Extractor program, which I found on Nexus. If you've got one of those nifs, you can find the location of the matching texture in Nifskope (I'm using 2.0 pre-alpha) under BSTriShape > BSLightingShaderProperty > BSShaderTextureSet. It'll give you something like "textures\setdressing\restroomsign01_d.dds" There are a lot of texture ba2 archives, so it'll take a bit of searching in BAE. The example I gave, you'd open a texture archive, go to the setdressing category to find restroomsign01_d.dds. Use BAE to extract the files to Data. The folders will automatically appear under Data's Textures folder. If it's all set up as Nifskope expects it to be, the texture should appear on the mesh in Nifskope. In case you don't know already, a "_d.dds" ending is the actual picture of the texture. "_n.dds" is the normal map. I believe "_s.dds" is specular map. Deleted2948850User
You know the import function of the FO4 NifSkope alpha is deactivated for the moment, right? So evenif you successfully export and edit the model, you can't import/turn it back into a FO4 compatible nif again. Sorry to rain on your parade there, I'm sure the good folks at NifSkope'll complete their FO4 compatibilitysoon enough =]
Aikospacerogue
If I'm not mistaken Quixel is a texture paint program, so they would have no need to import the mesh back to the game.
Deleted2948850User
If that's indeed the case, I've said nothing ;]
