vandorssen
I listen to every kind of music, and can appreciate what different styles and genres can add to the whole. I am audiophile. My entire hobby is the pursuit of sonic truth and truly high-fidelity. High-fidelity can be found anywhere. That said I am especially fond of jazz. I listen every week to Leigh Kamman on Minnesota Public Radio’s Jazz Image program. I also enjoy very much Frank Zappa (despite his occasionally crude lyrics his musicianship is beyond reproach). And due in no small part to Oma’s influence I am a very avid listener to Wagner.
cactoblasta
I like The Wrath of Peregrine's Pike of Banning +10, Custard, Frenzal Rhomb, Daft Punk, Jamiroqui, machine gun fellatio, the herd, Jet, the Hilltop Hoods, the Butterfly Effect, Butterfingers and of course the Cat Empire. I can't stand American rap, anything by Destiny's Child/Britney/boybands etc, and hardcore death metal. I like my tunes funky, fast or soulful. EDIT: as peregrine would obviously prefer, I like one of the unmentionables, and not the one with books.
Peregrine
Cactoblasta, strike one for mentioning one of the unmentionables. The Terms of Service is not just a list of polite suggestions. We mean every word seriously. Since if you didn't read it carefuly enough to catch one rule, you've probably missed others. I suggest you study it before you post again. Wizzy
hard rock i guess... nu-metal too (Taproot, Mudvayne, Deftones, ill nino type stuff) as for rap - i'm not even sure you can call that music. more like talking quickly over a repatative beat for 3-5 minutes. he_who_eats_dirt
I vote rock. Where's the metal?
Argoren
I will follow Jesugandalf here - anything but techno, dance etc. - plus German folkmusic... painful is the only word for it! I voted jazz, ‘cause it’s the mother of most other music styles anyway – so, back to the roots! If I’m asked about specific artists, it could be Queen, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Billy Idol, Guesch Patti, Beethoven, Tschaikowsky, Ray Anthony, Aretha Franklin…. and many many many more. It really depends on the mood I’m in.
Albareth
I like nearly everything to some extent - however, I consider everything I classify as "screamy music" as absolutely horrid and disturbing to listen to. Everything non-screamy, is at least allright. :D My favorite genre changes day from day - I got music from all of the above categories, I usually play classical when writing, drawing or pursuing other creative activities, rock (and yes, indeed, sometimes punk) of various types when doing various stuff, techno occasionally I must admit - and logic help me I've even been known to like rap and pop! Not to mention all the wonderful things like reggae, jazz, etc... but it takes a special mood for me to turn to that. And, last but not least, disco! *grins* :D The most important and distinguishing thing about good music, no matter what genre, is for me a good and memorable rhythm. Something that makes you stop what you're doing and notice - hey, it's that song. Those songs always make the top of my favorites list. :)
