FO4 is meant to be a sandbox and TW3 is story driven; they are different types of RPG. Where FO4 fails for me is the lack of freedom in this supposed sandbox game. Despite this the game world was small, the various locations were nothing more than habitats for whatever I was going to fight, and the forced role as a grieving spouse who was looking for his lost son restricted whatever sense of free play I might have had.

TW3 was marketed as a Witcher game and that is what I bought and played. Within context there was no let down. With FO4 I was anticipating an open world RPG sandbox since that what it was marketed as. What I thought I was buying and what I played were vastly different and I was very disappointed.

FO4 got one play through before I deleted it. I still play TW3 when I have time.

FO4 is a shooter.

And a poorly done one at that.

Oh, Lordy, here come the trolls. Instead of just screaming "FALLOUT 4 SUXORZ!" why don't you contribute to the discussion by posting the reasons you feel that way.

CDPR didn't really invest you into their world and their characters and that's okay. If you like playing Fallout 4 and are more invested in that game then you are fine. For example, I like the Dragon Age series more than The Witcher because I have more investment in them and understand the lore and connect with their characters more than the The Witcher. It doesn't make make me a bad person, it's just my taste. Will I ever play The Witcher 3 for science? Sure but for now play what you like to play rather than what people tell you to play.

Oh and you can like both games too you know.

Well yeah, people would be better off playing Far Cry, at least that is competent.

A troll isn't someone who holds a different opinion to you, I suggest you look up what the word actually means. Why it isn't a roleplaying game has done to death both here and elsewhere, I'll leave a link to what I posted on the debates board because I really can't be bothered to go over it again http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3538895-dumbing-down-for-consoles/?p=32726495

Well I haven't played the Witcher series but have heard many good things about CDPR. Looking forward to their new cyberpunky game. As long as it isn't about settlement building, inane radiant quests and hamfisted storytelling, will be happy to throw my money at 'em.

CDPR is a great company, polish people have a different mentality than american studios; to big developers making games is just about the money - for CDPR it's more like hobby as well. That being said I think their only problem is not being able to optimize games properly.... I don't know how Witcher 3 runs as I never tried it; but I heard it's hell to run even on really advanced PCs and well CDPR is also responsible for............................Saints Row 2 port. Yeah, that says alot.

Thanks for the input, Verz. Word of mouth is kind of important when it comes to video games and yep, heard about the W3 optimisation problem. It's something to watch out for esp. after experiencing inconsistent performance in FO4. All said and done, it's good to hear about a game developer that hasn't been swamped by rehashed 'innovations' and appear to be responsive to feedback without throwing their personal vision out the window. Granted they have a vision in the first place.

Though if CDPR ever tries to hoodwink customers into buying a piece of plastic with only 10% of the game on it on the grounds of 'piracy', I'll....I'll go choke the garden hose :pinch: It's simply shoddy.
