Two things, I would like to see, for defenses.

1) Wired, connnected, terminal managed machine gun turrets.

Every, single, other machine gun turret placed in the game gets wired to a terminal for control and direction - but player made MGTs are plop and forget. The powered turrets, (spotlight, laser, heavy laser, shotgun, rocket) all have this functionality; surely it would be easy to include the MGTs in the networking?

I don't think we need to remove the plop and forget, but it would be nice to be able to swing a wire to one so that I could have all my settlement turrets networked to a console from which I could check on their repair status, and any other things that come to mind.


2)Fixed turrets on guard stations.

How cool would it be to put a minigun on a mount, like we see on the vertibird, but on the front of a guard station. So when settlers go man that station they get a souped up gun to go with it. I know, you can give settlers weapons and they have functionally infinite ammo, but this would just be a very cool thing IMO.

The turrets on guard posts has been brought up. It'd improve immersion greatly - there's really no reason to build vanilla guard posts except for looks. With souped up guard posts, you'd have an actual alternative to the power consuming Laser Turrets. Plus, what could be more awesome than your settlers mowing down Raider hordes with miniguns?

 

And it'd tie in to the existing perks, too.

Minigun Guard Post: Requires Gun Nut rank 2. Provides 6 defence.

Gatling Laser Post: Requires Gun Nut rank 3, Science rank 1. Provides 10 defence.

No energy cost, but they do require settlers to man them - so that's not a settler slaving in your farm to make glue.

AS for the Machine Gun Turrets, the ones you place in-game are... oil powered, I think? They're just the same as the ones you find in Raider bases. Networking to be able to check repair status would be a nice addition, although they're usually fairly obsolete by the time you're able to produce the electrical turrets... although they have the massive advantage of not snorting up all your power.

Oil powered doesn't quite cut it. There is still friend or foe identification, fire control, etc. that involves circuits, sensors, and programming. I don't think we need to put in place a power requirement, but being able to connect a wire and have the turret speak with the terminal would be stellar.

Oil generator-y powered. Maybe. I'll have to check what you make it with. Oil and battery? They smoke and putter like they've got a combustion engine.
