cyronarxes
I was just wondering if anyone had problems with bullies. We all know that most people do not merely get away with blatant flaming such as repeated cussing, yelling, spamming, ect. anyways i seen my share of bullying and i myself have been bullied quite a few times. You see some of the users who are bullies will provoke you or make fun of you in a subliminal manner. This type of bullying I for one have experienced. What the user puts down is not directly bad enough to be considered flaming however it is noticable and you notice it. A example would be sarcasm. One funny individual responded on a question on how to create signatures by quote "use a marker". other phrases often used by subliminal bullies on they're victims are pathetic, weak reasoner, exagerator, child minded, ect. Im sure at least a few of you have been called these by such individuals. I would hope that there would be end to subliminal bullies but they're very clever and hard to catch in the act. If you have been in such a situation, why not express your experiences below. But do leave out names as that may lead to arguments.
Abramul
No problems whatsoever. Have noticed the occasional heated tone recently, but nothing major. By 'subliminal', you mean 'as an undertone', rather than the normal meaning, right?
ninja_lord666
I know of that situation you talked--er...typed about involving the sigs, and that wasn't "subliminal bullying" as you call it. That's just how he is. He's always making funny remarks like that. The fact that the person who asked the question had no sense of humor, however, is another story. *I*, for one, thought it was quite funny. I have to agree with Abramul. I haven't seen any bullying on GS aside from the obvious flaming.

By 'subliminal', you mean 'as an undertone', rather than the normal meaning, right?yeah. pretty much anything that indirectly offends another person that was intended by the speaker. I have noticed this a lot. if you look closely, you may too although it is hard to see. I am not going to name reference as I am going to remain neutral on the matter but check on some of the hotted debates and especially "the lounge". No problems whatsoever. Have noticed the occasional heated tone recently, but nothing major.I have looked through the forums and this one response really annoyed the recipient "That your desperate attempts to say that it isn't Homo-Erotic could just be a way of covering up your own sexuality". Im not going to speak for the person but it was clear it wasn't liked. I would post some more but well, many of such subliminal bullying come from a certain person who I will not speak of for he would immediatly ban me. Anyways I have also noticed that a few moderators do it as well. Im not saying all of them do. heck most of them don't but a few do abuse they're power. if one of them yells at me for writing this, you will know what I mean. EDIT: Merged your posts. Please edit rather than double posting. Thanks. ^^ - Switch
Marxist ßastard
Give me all your lunch money. That's just ridiculous.Give me all your lunch money. As others have said, there are just some people out there with no sense of humor at all.Give me all your lunch money.(...And no sense of humor's not-quite-right cousin, humour, either...)Give me all your lunch money. What am I to do, circulate a brief questionnaire asking people if they'd like to be placed in the ass-end of jokes?Give me all your lunch money.(That isn't a bad idea per se, but I'm not made of money, you know.)So then fork over those sweet, sweet Lincolns, female dog. What, then, of all the people before I started circulating the questionnaire?Give me all your lunch money. They get nothing, you see. No preferential treatment whatsoever.Give me all your lunch money....Which means that I would, in fact, be “bullying” them!Give me all your lunch money.Another thing you're forgetting is that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few:Give me all your lunch money.By this, of course, I mean:Give me all your lunch money. Vagrant0
I would have to agree with Marxist's answer here. I have been known to be a bit on the borderline between acceptable and hostile, but for the most part the intention is not to cause anger or unhappiness. Most of the times I have come close has been in hope that people would bother to think about what they just said when opposition has been made. People are entitled to their own opinions as long as they are based on reason. Beyond those cases, it's usually just been me making a smart comment (that usually doesn't work out) at someone else's expense (for pretty much the same reasoning). For this reason, I've tried to cut back on trying to be smart, too many people running around these days who aren't in the practice of questioning themselves and assume that anyone who does is merely trying to pick a fight. Going back to the 300 topic... Op stated that the movie was great, and gave their reasons, I stated that it was crap, and gave my reasons. Op misunderstood my reasons, didn't even ask what my basis for those reasons were, and took it as a flame, so they flamed back. Their flaming led to more misunderstandings, smart comments, which they took personally. It could have been avoided by taking a moment and actually thinking about the statments of others, and what logic they were trying to use, but that doesn't happen any more, especially online. To clarify, this isn't a flame, subliminal bullying, or any of that. The sad truth is that people become too attached to ideas, when you question those ideas, there is bound to be some conflict. Where there is obvious and respected authority, that conflict is negated out of necessity to conform, where there is little authority, the conflict is seen as personal. Yeah, we could avoid the cheap shots... But that would make for rather dry arguments... Go watch the American Congress in session, then go watch Brittish Parlament in session. One is just more entertaining than the other because there is so much conflict. People thrive off chaos and conflict, it's as simple as that. *For the record, I'm not prone to watching either one, maybe when I was I managed to catch a rather boring session of congress, and a rather heated session of parlament. These views are not reflective of anything pertaining to anything, and are both subject to question and to being totally ignored.
Peregrine
I resent the implication that I am in any way "subliminal" in my bullying. I am very open and direct about who I dislike. If you don't like it, stop posting stupid things for me to attack.
