oldspice2625
Pretty much the topic... I read somewhere that if you have enough settlements established, you automatically side with the minutemen, and then the railroad, forcing you to fight the brotherhood and institute. It's kind of vague and confusing to me, so I want to make sure. I saved and haven't even done the quest at all for retakin the Castle, but I want a forward base of operations that isn't Sanctuary :D. Talwyn224
Well from my PoV - I took the castle and it didn't effect any of the other quest lines at all. GL
Moraelin
Nah, not really. The Minutemen are pretty much the neutral faction, or rather they're YOUR faction. It may not look like you're actually the general, but you do get to choose the alliances. They're friendly to whoever you're friendly to, and hostile to whoever you're hostile to. They can even coexist with the Institute, even though most of them don't like the institute. So basically: 1. You can still do the final assault with whatever other faction you wish, and none of them tells you to kill off the Minutemen, like they do with each other. 2. You can also go with the Minutemen and basically finish off whoever you're hostile to, and stay allied to whoever you wish to stay allied to. Siding with the Minutemen doesn't automatically saddle you with the Railroad. Hell, you can go with the Minutemen and be allied to both the BOS and RR, if you're very careful, or do a one-faction ending and kill all three other factions so only the Minutemen are left. But anyway, the choice (if you're killing off the Institute) is really done when you give the Institute tape to one of the factions, not when you're friendly with them. If you give the tape to the BOS, you go with the BOS from there, if you give it to the Minutemen, you go with the Minutemen, and if you give it to the RR, you go with the RR. And even then you can change your mind.

Moraelin
I guess that's when taking a year of Japanese comes in handy. Being an anime fanboy pays off, yo! ;)
