So i take it, it runs? Great ^^ have fun.

It does, and so far runs and looks a lot better than console version. Right now I'm learning modding [my first time really doing mods. Especially ones that involve custom material / stuff]. I can wait to start making my own clothes, weapon decals, and other things I've been thinking would be cool in game. It'll be even more fun when it's all finished and I share it with the community.

So why didn't it run before?

I have a dual core i5 too, but I bought a GTX 970 card with 4Gb RAM and I can run FO4 in Ultra mode with the best ENB.

Seriously? I'm jealous.

Yeah, I have no idea why I can only play at low settings, with everything off then if you're running similar at Ultra.Might be because you have a 970, while I have 940M. And me after downloading Titan is only a 361.43 driver.

The 940M is (mobile) bugdet hardware. The GTX 970 is (desktop) gaming hardware. Its up to 20 times faster, depending on the application.

Main issue is the memory bandwidth. Memory bandwidth is required for textures. Because of that you can only play on lowest settings.

By the way: I'm playing on ultra with a GTX 780 - that thing is over 2 years old, but still much faster than brand new budget hardware.

PS: You might be able to play with higher graphics quality, if you install mods to reduce texture sizes and increase the quality. That can help a lot. I did that on a laptop once with Skyrim and the impact on performance was very small.

I play FO4 with ultra textures on a Geforce 450GTS. Even the 940 should be able to handle that.

Look up the memory bandwidth. 57.7 vs 28.8 GB/s. The 940M is no gaming hardware, its a multimedia card that can handle a little gaming on low settings.

You can identify the nvidia graphics cards (of the current generation) that are meant for gaming by the three letters "GTX". Everything thats just "GT" (or simply Geforce xyz) isn't meant for real gaming. Weakest gaming card is the GTX 950M with DDR3 (32GB/s) instad of GDDR5 (80GB/s) - the DDR3 version isn't really worthy of the "GTX".

Addition: There is a minimum to memory bandwith that correlates to the textures sizes. The bigger the textures the more bandwidth you need. Thats not a problem for the GTX 970 (or the GTS 450). But its a problem when you don't have enough bandwidth.

Edit: Just noticed that I mixed up the numbers on 920M and 940M. So its 28.8 GB/s, not 14.4 GB/s. Far from good but better than I thought.

No, thats no nvidia´s fault. Its the poorly optimized bethesda game engine. They develop for consoles, and give a damn about the pc-version. Let the community do the work...

Therefore:

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/? with recommendet settings for texture loading and ENB with extra memory allocation and everything runs fine, even it the hardware does not even match the minimum specs for FO4.

Sorry, but bethesda has great ideas, and they have a good basic engine. But they dont know a crap about PCs.

Ain't that the truth. At least they give rise to a proverbial army of amazing modders.
