mrspongeworthy
After setting up a couple settlements I realized I would have to abandon them due to RL time constraints. There is simply no way I'll ever have enough time in life to micro-manage hundreds of settlers. So my mod request: Self-Sufficient Settlements & Settlers: So that all I have to do is the basic quests to enable settlements. After that the settlers would do essentially everything on their own (create defenses, plant gardens, create buildings and beds etc.) If that level of automation is not possible, then at the very least the settlers need to be self-sufficient enough to assign them to resources I create. That way a player could just run in, spam a bunch of turrets, stick a bunch of beds in buildings and plant some stuff and at least the settlers would decide what to do on their own when they arrive instead of the current situation which requires you to revisit settlements over and over again just to tell settlers what to do. Arnaeus
A suggestion for that mod:Have a way to set up a zone for building, farming, water, generators, also points for defenses. Maybe also have a "thou shall not build here" area, so you have some space left for workbenches. That way you can define the basic layout and leave the rest to the settlers. They'd build up predefined structures at a specific number of settlers. You acquire the settlement, set up basic defense and a beacon and all zones. You leave, the settlement grows to 5 settlers while you're awayYou return to the settlement, the settlers have set up a small house with 6 beds and some crops on the fieldYou leave, the settlement grows to 10 settlers whle you're awayYou return to the settlement, the settlers have built a second floor on top with another 8 beds, they have planted more crops in the farming zone, built a generator in the electricity zone, a water purifier in the water zone, some guard posts and additional turrets at the defense points. You can move all that stuff around and the settlers won't screw it up as long as you keep it in the assigned build-zones. mrspongeworthy
Yeah, something like that. In my case, the more the settlers do on their own the better, but a modular approach would be very cool too.
SirTwist
Adding to this, they arm, and armor, themselves the best they can. They can self-modify weapons, and armor, and scrap the weapons, and armor and clothes, that aren't needed. I would say you should have to set up shops, but they level those themselves. Also, the defenses keep out everything, and they don't cry to Preston, who whinges at you, when the wind is blowing the wrong way. And keep your quest list low by successfully keeping all radiant quests, after you first establish the place, from spawning. You may have to go back, also, to build artillery spots, but that's a quick shot, and a five minute job. Oh, and they self assign to supply lines, as well.
