chucksteel
Is there a reason changing the .BGSM in a custom mesh causes the game to crash? I've created several custom Bobbleheads and out of the 13 I've made, I have two that will cause the game to crash if I change the .BGSM for the Body. One only crashes with a specific custom .BGSM but the one I want to work doesn't. I created the meshes with 3D MaxNifscope 2.0 Textures in Photoshop and the .BGSM's with FO4 Materials Editor This is the one I'm having issues with, and the odd thing is that I can use some custom .BGSM's and textures but not all. I skipped modding for Skyrim and assume the .BGSM files were introduced with it. They seem to be like a more powerful "Texture Set" that you would have in FO3/NV. Am I missing something? It seems odd to me that a texture could or would crash the game but I've tested with vanilla textures and all works fine, I've tested with some of my other custom textures and all works fine. I'm at a loss to what the problem is. Thanks for any help
nekollx
bgsm files are new to fo4 skyrim still used dds and texture sets so it could be that the tools are not perfected
zilav
It is a new feature in Fallout 4, very powerful indeed since it also allows to apply material swaps directly in REFR records, just on placed objects.Wrong combination of shader settings in Skyrim could easily crash the game, for example having environment mapping shader flag set but not envrionment mapping shader type. What's worse is such crashes could also be random and hard to pin down. When you think that some of your custom BGSMs work, they might actually still be broken as others and crash the next time you load the game. chucksteel
Thats good to know, I 'll have to look at all my .BGSM's again. I was getting things to work the BAM two or three loads down the road CRASH for what seemed to be no reason! Thanks for the info I guess this is a little more complicated then I first assumed. :wallbash:
